Over the last few years, there was an epidemic on many trees caused by a bug called the Emerald Ash Borer. At Parker Mill, they lost many trees. But they used the problem to make some benches.

This drawing is inspired by the “runes” on the ash-bench and some other dead-looking wood that I saw in the park.

The little catkins on trees always look like fairy skirts to me. Maybe it is just the influence of having read Thumbelina when I was young, but they seem so magical. More than flowers.

A sketch based on a wild lily photographed on a walk through Parker Mill Park this afternoon. Spring is coming, slowly.

There was enough frost on the car the past two mornings to leave me a little behind schedule.

The flower is about the size of a dime in reality, but the photos, of course are bigger.

Everyone stumbles sometimes. The last few days, my routine has changed, and with it, my drawings have fallen behind. That isn’t to say that I won’t catch up… Tomorrow I plan on doing a triptych or well a series of 3 drawings.

This drawing has been in my head all week. A no-lift drawing (ok, so I cheated, but it -could- have been done!) of the photo I took earlier in the week. By no-lift, I mean that I did not lift the pen from the paper (except once when I lost concentration… cheater!) in the process of drawing and re-tracing the image.

The title is way too punny. If you don’t get it, it probably isn’t worth it.

This labyrinthine drawing started out as an attempt to focus in on how to make my next rag-rug, but quickly degenerated into random squiggles.

Sometimes just creating a harmony of color or sound is the most pleasing, so this evening, to clear my head, I played with a symphony of color emanating from a central point.

So often I draw with contrast, but sometimes smooth transition is more powerful.

I was doodling and this weird shape came out, but it reminds me of those drawings from Biology of the anatomy of leaves.

Spring flowers are popping up in random spots around the yard. It’s lovely. Flowers are so wonderful!

This has been a very long week, and this is yesterday’s drawing and it’s already tomorrow!
