After recommending hieronymousb Michael Crichton's "Timeline" yesterday, I thought that perhaps there are Russian sci-fi books which I might also recommend her. I thought of Alexander Belyaev, with his excellent "Professor Dowell's head" or "The man that found his face"...alas. You mean the town named Pushkin, in the Leningrad suburbs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Beliaev).

I hate to nitpick, put the germans didn't occupy Leningrad either... they wished! Instead it was besieged for almost two and a half years during which up to a million of people died: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Leningrad.

Please nitpick! It's totally ok. Learning something new is my way of living :D I am not very familiar with the topic, plus I believe I misused the word "occupied".
