Had it really been as long as it felt? )

There wasn't any reason, really, he just felt like it. It was just a coincidence, really, but while he was lost in thoughts, he managed to notices the familiar figure down there.
He was an emotional kid, but even then he rarely felt so irrationally angry and... scared? He didn't know how to react, seeing Owen's figure. Staring at him for some more, it took him just a little to come up with what was right.
As quickly as he could, he headed outside, and stared at Owen.

He quickly found his voice and said awkwardly, "Delaine?"

Katori probably never hated Owen. He probably would have been happy to see he was back, and although Delaine knew it, he chose to discard that.
"Go away." despite the fact he was feeling so many emotions, despite the fact he was angry, he sounded so terribly cold "And never come back. Don't let him see you."

"I-I...," he stammered. "I'm sorry."
And with that, he put his head down. It was too hard to look the small boy in the face, but he wouldn't turn way. Not just yet.

He thought he'd clear his mind. He was simply going to go for an evening stroll, but as he opened the door and stepped outside... He may have thought it was a dream, an illusion. He thought it could be possible, and maybe it was-- He wasn't going away forever after all... At least, that's what he'd said. Katori sometimes wondered if it was a lie to ease the pain.
But as time passed, he realized he was very awake and that the figure before him was indeed present, he stood upright, folded his hands behind his back, and smiled at him as he said, "Welcome home."

It was weird how his words had such an impact on him. Welcome back. Those words could have been uttered by anyone else and it would not have felt the same as when spoken by Katori. Owen felt like smiling, crying, screaming--
"What an idiot," was all that came out though. He laughed at the boy standing in front of him. Had it really been so long since he was able to look into those fiery eyes of his? "That's all you have to say to me after all this time?"

But now, it was as though the long chapter they'd spent apart was simply like turning the page. There wasn't a need for awkwardness. The only thing that was important was standing right before him, within his reach though he never imagined it would be this simple.
He started to walk towards him. And though he was trying to keep his composure, he knew that tears must have been falling down as he approached and wrapped his arms around Owen tightly, the simple embrace speaking a thousand words in his place, conveying every emotion that Katori had felt over the past few months.
"... I missed you."

But somehow... things were awkward. He was happy. He was happier than words could describe, but he just didn't think it'd be this easy. He had always thought that Katori would be upset at him for leaving. Maybe even hoping that he would be. To Owen, that would have showed he cared, and Owen wanted to be able to prove he cared just as much. The way his mind worked was strange, even to him.
"I didn't mean to leave you like that. I just..." There was a long pause. It seemed useless. The cool composure he had just moments ago was gone, and now he was left with nothing to say. No witty comment to calm the tears trailing down Katori's cheeks. Nothing.

Or the dorm. That, or he was a pedophile.
She scowls, placing her hands on her hips. "What the hell?"

"U-um... is there a problem?" He didn't even know this girl though she looked familiar somehow. She must've been new.

And usually, that meant the unsavory folk of Iwatodai.
"What's your business here?"

He didn't know how to respond and sound sincere. The situation was so strange to him for some reason, so his answer would sound slightly off.
"Um... I used to be a memb--an occupant of these dorms. I'm back from... a trip."

At first he wasn't sure that it really was Owen. After all, there had been dopplegangers running around. This could have easily been one of them pretending to be Owen, and after the incident with Junpei's doppleganger he had been on edge anyways. He was about half-a-second away from jumping up from his seat to attack Owen, but then he realized that all the lights were on. This wasn't the Dark Hour, so this couldn't be a shadow.
So that meant...
"OWEN!"
Ray ended up leaping at Owen anyways, but instead of an attack this was a big hug. He had missed the other boy a lot, and he was glad to see him. "Owen, you're back! What are you doing here? How was America?"

It was Ray, the small boy boy he used to talk to every so often when he was still in S.E.E.S.. He was a nice kid and Owen was glad to see a familiar face.
Trying his best to answer the questions after being shocked like he was, he stammered, "I guess I got lonely in America. It's a boring place, little man." He ruffles Ray's hair and tries his best to smile at him. What he said was true, but it was just skimming the top.

Of course, Ray wasn't the same person that he had been when Owen had left. A lot of things had happened to him, and he had grown up quite a bit. He seemed lot more weary than he had been before. It was visible in his eyes. Whatever had happened, it had affected him deep down in his heart and soul. But despite that, Ray was still smiling, so he had managed to stay cheerful throughout it all.
"So are you here to stay," he asked, "The dorm's a bit crowded now, but we can find room for you!"

"Y-yeah. I guess I am," he said awkwardly. It was weird to say out loud, and he wanted so badly to be able to come back for good.
"So I take it that a lot of people have been recruited since I've been gone?"
