30 Days of Posting: Day Four

Sep 11, 2013 00:26

Today was a typical day: three hours at the vet's (waiting, see vet, wait some more then wait some more). One cat tested, one cat admitted (foster cats, but still). Three hour nap, half an hour with psychiatrist (let's up the meds. Do let's!), and no time at all spent voting (NYC and it's goddamn punch machine like we're in the 70's). Okay so ( Read more... )

I remember the original Ironside; though I'm happy Blair Underwood has a series, I wish they'd cast an actually wheelchair-bound actor this time around. Sorry to hear Sleepy Hollow isn't particularly good -- it looked like one of those things where they might take an intriguing idea and do very little with it.

Oooh, yes, a wheelchair-bound actor would have been amazing!

I don't think there's enough to sustain Sleepy Hollow for 22 episodes, but there's a few twists they can explore. I just don't know why there's such poor writing in so many of these shows!

Sorry about your day and I hope there's good news on the cat front.

I remember hearing that they were remaking Ironside and thinking "pass" and then I saw my first trailer for it and thought "Blair Underwood???????!!!!!!!!!!!" Yep, for some strange reason I feel compelled to try it.

Yeah, Blair Underwood is looking GOOD in this, if you know what I mean. There's only one token female in his group, (Kelsey Grammar's daughter), and she's blonde, dedicated, uptight! She's been up all night but still has perfect makeup! Yeah, cliches for miles.

I devoutly hope that you will be a not-depressed cat person eventually, but ANYONE with a lot of cats is guaranteed to spend a lot of time hanging out in vets' offices. It is known.

You are so correct. It's not that part I mind so much. It's the depression. I mind it a lot!!!!!

*sigh* Vets.

I try to avoid mine a lot but they have my email addresses and insist on harassing me. The latest exchange stated that Orbit (my dog) was extremely overdue for a physical. I wrote the secretary back that I don't bother with those anymore because it usually involves $150 just to tell me that she's incredibly healthy (which she is). The secretary wrote back in an alarmist way with 'what about heartworms? what about boosters? what about genetic abnormalities?'. I tried to explain that I keep a sharp eye out for my dog's health and that I bring her in if anything doesn't look right, but being the owner of a senior dog basically means extra $$$ for all of the 'preventative' tests that the vets insist are necessary. This is $$$ that I have earmarked for things other than bullshit.

PUPPIES. So cute!!! (Every dog is a puppy to me).

I do come from the school of thinking that really good pet owners know when their pet needs a vet. There is no reason to stress yourself spending money you don't have when there is no urgent need. Of course in the rescue business, we strongly suggest that the pet go every year, because we often get returned pets who have never been taken to any vet.

And plenty of people give up their pets for financial reasons ~ and this is because the vet business is ridiculous.

PUPPY!
