It was the knowledge that the Queen was played by Susanna Thompson, received after I had made my post about being on the edge, rhat pushed me over into deciding to watch it.
Usually I can, through the magic of het male privilege, get into the fantasy of a love interest presented solely as a love interest, even if I'd prefer a more fleshed-out female character. But I had such a hard time identifying with the protagonist that even as a prize she did nothing for me. The actress was cute, I guess. *shrug* The fact that her overarching chracter trait seems to be "is a good person" doesn't help, although it does help if I think of her as a really dumb Valentine Wiggin.
