[Gabriel is laughing, not cruelly, never at Alice, but the question and the misunderstanding is possibly the sweetest thing he's ever seen in all his long years. She really is the most precious of creatures, and worth more than all the stars in the heavens and the birds in the trees.
He manages to calm himself down a little, wiping away tears from his eyes and he's still smiling, chuckling softly]
Oh Allie-pie, you are the most wonderful little girl. How about we make some cup-cakes and I'll explain it, hm?
[He smiles, because well, maybe he seems amazing, but... there's a lot of prayers he couldn't answer, too many for one creature, even an angel, even a rogue out-for-himself-angel.... but no, no more thinking like that] Just the way I was made, Allie.
[Her excitement is actually palpable, and Gabriel is honestly never ever going to get bored of this sort of thing. True, his power could probably be put to better use but... well, why not if it makes Alice happy?] Maybe I had a little something to do with it. They suit you.
Go on, give us a twirl, let me see them properly. Is that the sort of thing you wanted? For the parade?
Well, I quite like you, even without having any powers I love you. [She smiled and then promptly spun around. The wings weren't real but they moved with her.]
They're so beautiful! [She giggles and they flap at her laughter.] I'm a real faerie!
You are, a real live faerie is our kitchen. Lucky I don't have a butterfly net big enough, hm? [Oh, he loves her, he really can't help it. She's a wonderful kid and she makes his heart swell with joy whenever she laughs.]
[Don't let Dean put her in the microwave, Gabriel.] But I've already been caught. [She smiled.] I bet you didn't know that guardian angel hugs are much better catchers than butterfly nets. They're the muchiest of catchers!
[Heh, if Dean tries it, he'll be the one in the microwave baby-girl.]
Much better? Really? I didn't know that! [He pulls her close to him, hugging her tight and ruffling her hair. She's just so neat and tidy, and sweeter than sugar, one day she really will rot all his teeth.] Better make sure you get one every day then, just so you don't end up un-caught.
Well... [Gabriel pauses for a moment, and looks like he's considering] I'll either have to set a Alice-Faerie trap using delicious cakes or... chase you all over the house and give you cuddles then.
What? [He blinks, surprised, but Allie-pie is already well out of easy reach and Gabriel laughs, giving her a second more while he puts a plate over the bowl of dry ingredients, and then chasing after her.]
[Hey, it's a good thing no one in the Winchester household is very keen on fancy-smancy delicate ornaments, isn't it? Because Gabriel follows her, not actually really used to running, and not trying too hard to catch her either. The animals in the household probably think they two of them are insane, but it doesn't matter, because it's fun.]
[Alice reaches the dining room and loves being able to play with Gabriel like this. No one really played like this with her. Idris and Matt of course had been very fun and quirky in different ways, but something like this was unique to Gabriel.]
[Gabriel knew Matt and Idris had been good to Alice, had loved her and looked after her and he wasn't going to have a word said against them. But... he had his own style,
Which currently involved slowing down as he reaches the dining room, knowing full well Alice has gone on ahead, peering around.]
[Gabriel pauses, hmmph-ing softly to himself and placing his hands on his hips. He circles the table, pace measured.]
She's clearly not in here...
[And then he leaves, footsteps fading as he turns a corner. And then, when he's out of ear-shot, he snaps himself onto the table, kneeling down on it and looks underneath, fingers curled over the edge.]
