Yarn is expensive! And heavy, which is one of the reason that I eventually moved from crocheting lap blankets and such to crocheting lace. The stitches are all the same, but crochet thread is dirt cheap and weighs nothing.

:D If you ever decide you want to try it, I have some very cool patterns. Also, filet crochet (which is basically a pattern of blocks of double crochet alternating with blocks of chain stitches) is really easy to make patterns for, in this day and age, since a low-res, zoomed in graphic essentially is a filet crochet pattern. You just have to play with your stitches to make sure you know what combination makes for reasonable squares and not rectangles.

Sadly, my stupid carpal tunnel means I haven't bought yarn in awhile, not in quantity. And when I do, it's generally from the Lion website, or Amazon, neither of which are probably much of a bargain.

Also! I'm all behind, too much work drama, but thank you so much for the Christmas card!!

I'm glad the card made it, I was worried my address book was out of date. :)

I've got a great book for lace and small gauge projects. Definitely easier to carry around with me that a half-finished blanket. :) I'll look at filet crochet, too.

knitpicks.com - inexpensive yarn, but keep an eye on how much you get per skein.

Thanks! There are definitely some better prices there than what I was finding...especially at my local shop.
