1) If you could get people in the US/ Europe to do one thing to improve the sustainability of their homes, what would you suggest? The main problem in a lot of cases is that many modern houses are not built with sustainability in mind and aren't designed to minimise heating/cooling or lighting requirements. The best thing anyone can do by far (assuming they don't have solid/stone walls) short of knocking their house down is install insulation in their loft and walls. The only other thing that comes close is replacing an old boiler.

Energy saving light bulbs are a worthwhile improvement, but offer a 20th of the energy saving that going from nothing to fully insulated will.

Micro-renewables gets too much attention over macro...the future is in big installations like wind farm, especially the resource potential in off shore.

Oh, and err hello! Yes, I should update my blog more often :)

Yes, I should probably have put insulation second instead of renewable energy, but my point with the energy saving tips is that *everyone* can do something along those lines, not everyone is in a position to install insulation.

The advantage of micro-renewals though, is that subject to the money and any planning permission required, those of us who care can actually do something now. I know there is huge potential in offshore renewables but no-one seems to be in particular hurry to get their arses in gear and actually build one!

Yes, you should :) How's things? Where are you these days anyway?

Oh you are new here, aren't you? ;)

Apparently so! Props to you for reminding us all why having safe access to birth control was a really good goal of the women's movement!

Awesome! Thanks for the answers!

Too right, IMHO the whole point of the women's movement is to give women choices and making motherhood a choice is one of the most important goals because it's one of the biggest decisions in a women's life, or at least should be in my opinion.
