YES. In the Japanese drama, THEY DID. They were all, he always seems to SMILE only at men, and dislikes women. And then they COPPED OUT. Final episode, Ono EXPLICITLY STATES, "No no, you got it all wrong, I don't like men... I'm just... not comfortable around women. But I would like to be, SOME DAY."

Cue my retching.

Watch Merlin. Joooinnnnn us. Seriously, there are few things as gay and wonderful as a a Pratty Prince and his totally beddable magical manservant.

Hell, you don't even NEED to watch the show to understand the fanfiction. You just need to know that Arthur is the prince of Camelot. And Merlin possesses magic. And somehow, is his slightly incompetent manservant. Together, they fight magical crime. Sort of. There is a lot of breathy, "Faster! Faster! Arthur!s" and meaningful looks along the way. Seriously.
