WARNINGS: Spoilers for the latest arcs of the Naruto Manga. And by latest I mean, not really.
Why: The highest compliment I can give to this fic is that it is convincing. There is such atmosphere and thought put into the relationships in this story it astounds me. There are few fics that attempt to pair two characters without shunting off every other character in the course of the get together. What I love about this fic is how Sasuke's relationship to Naruto is still as vital as breathing, in everything he does, and watching that change is a strange, enlightening and wonderful experience. Naruto's relationship to Gaara though is equally well expressed, one of the best Gaaras I've seen written, especially a Gaara post-extraction. While the author is a stated Naruto/Sasuke fan, the case she makes for Naruto/Gaara is overwhelmingly powerful also.

Summary: Barret tries to convince the newest member of AVALANCHE that money isn't everything.
Why: Sometimes I just want something unconventional in this fandom. Cloud/Barret has always been my guilty pleasure, it isn't often a good fic comes along for possibly the single and only canon yaoi couple of the series. Furthermore, this has one of those even rarer creatures, FFVII!Cloud, rather than emolandFFAC!Cloud. It's startlingly refreshing (and hot).
Something that made me LOL: THIS TRAILER. It's the music video to some author's epic romance picture, except the production values are suspiciously high... and at the same time, incredibly bad. Add one extremely unconvincing hero doing an 80s song, and you have something that is at once break-down funny and yet, like a car crash, you can't look away.
ALSO.
I'm a huge fan of Antique Bakery, the manga series, and I remember it was the main reason I watched Antique Cake Shop, the live action Japanese drama with Takki (of Takki and Tsubasa fame) expecting it to be just as uber gay. And then pretty much frothed at the mouth when it was COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY NOT WHAT I WANTED. The main gay character in the series TURNED OUT NOT TO BE GAY. AT ALL. With some kind of bullshit scared-of-women-excuse too! Such to say, I wasn't very excited when I heard Korea was making their OWN version of Antique Bakery.
THEN I saw THE TRAILER for it.
sadfjhgasfjhsgukjfg HOLY FUCKING CHRIST. I came.
Seriously. The second half of that preview hit me like a beam of light.
Bonus! It has the hot waffle chef from Coffee Prince in it. ALSO. ACTUAL KISSING. ACTUAL MAKING OUT.
KOREA HAS FINALLY DARED TO GO WHERE MY FANTASISES HAVE GONE BEFORE (AGAIN AND AGAIN).
YES. GIMME. GIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMME. The piratecam!version is Here but alas, no subs. I'll wait.
AND, Crows Zero II is in the making! I want more of this world with my entire body. Seriously. *waits impatiently*
In other news I've been reading way too much Merlin fiction. So much I can't even rec any. It's become this huge wasteland that I seem to be chewing up without discrimination, and the only thing that comes out of me is a loud and throaty sounding groan of the void saying MOAR. Whenever I try to point to the ones I like best it becomes this huge flailing in several directions because I can't even pronounce how much I love this show.
The only thing that can make my new baby fandom better is time travel.
