He is gone, yeah :(

I suppose reincarnation is a possibility, but then as far as I can tell, it's only done in special cases. I don't really know if Elrond is classed as a special case.

I really like him, but Vilya could be passed to the twins (not that they might use it), Imladris could also be overseen by the twins as well, and the elves would eventually move on and carry on with their lives.

I suppose he might wish to come back for Celebrian in the Undying Lands, or for the twins (and Estel, or his other friends) but...

Hmmm, you know, I'd not really considered his possible reasons for returning, if he even could. I suppose love though, is as good a reason as any ^_^

and hell yes he's a special case! after his life, you mean to tell me he was only destined for that?! no way! no no no!!!!! *huggles Elrond protectivly* no!

Weeell, yeah, it does seem a bit cheap that he was only destined for that (in this little 'verse anyway) but he's still here. So long as no-one forgets him, he'll be around. Plus, I think not even death will stop him from keeping an eye on things sometimes :-)

But, as I said, reincarnation (although not one I'd thought about) is still a definate possibility.
