I know nothing about childseats, and fitting children safely into vehicles. But it does sound like a 2 door sports car is not the most practical vehicle in the world when you have two young children.

(Well, one, and one imminent. And a pregnant wife.)

I assume there must be safe carseats available that fit into 2 door cars though? Could you get one that fits into the front passenger seat perhaps, and then a baby seat for the rear?

I know nothing about carseats (hence my answer to your second question is pretty much at random XD) but even if Erika makes the switch to a backless seat to fit in the car, Baby #2 will also have a car seat which may cause the same problem eventually, when she grows up a bit. And for you two, having to install two kids in carseats from the front seats sounds like an unnecessary hassle.

I don't know much about carseats so I just try to meet the minimum requirements for the law. in kansas kids have to be four years old to transition, not a month less, so I wouldn't buy a car that required a backless booster unless I definitely already had a four-year-old ( ... )

I don't know anything about car seats since I don't have kids, but I think that buying this car with your family's situation was terribly thought out on his part. My husband and I both drive 2 door coupes, and we have put our nephew's car seat in the back of both of our cars even though it wasn't easy. The fact that no one really fits in the sports car except him, and the fact that you're opposed to the car, he really should have put his selfish wants on the back burner for a few more years. I'm sorry :(

There would have been plenty of good choices for a four door sporty car-a Mustang, a GTO, some of the Audis, the Cadillac CTS, a different model BMW, even Jaguar makes one ( ... )
