I'm thinking of letting my account expire too. I don't use any of the options ever. Only have a few icons I use... really, there is no point.

Agree. I dont use the options really, except the polls. And the icons, I pretty much just use the one!

A couple of years ago livejournal was bought by some russian company. When that happened, many of my Russian friends either closed their accounts, or decided that they wouldn't post anything critical here. None of them make any protected posts any more.
