We're flying out to Boston very shortly, before driving on to Auburn, NH, which is near a town called Manchester. You lot don't half lack imagination when it comes to naming things sometimes. We have a new case, which looks fun

I was just sort of hoping that they might realise I am the sort of... free spirited person who flies to America at a moment's notice and I would not be a very reliable lecturer.
Honestly, you lot. You travel half way around the world, or even half way across the galaxy, exploring and mapping out land using the best technology you've got and then what do you do? Call it the same name as something back home! Half the time it's already got a perfectly legitimate name because someone else got there before you, anyway! Admittedly New Earth's original name was difficult to pronounce if you weren't, you know, a cat, but still!
Technically it was the British that named most of New England. My thinking is that they were so homesick they duplicated everything.
Of course, we probably should've thought about renaming the cities and towns once we overthrew the government back in the 1700s but eh, I think we were too busy worrying about a Revolution than names of towns
I was using "you lot" as in humans in general, you know. That includes at least most of the British, although I suppose technically I'm one of them too these days. It says so on my passport.
Marcasite is right: they've changed the weather predictions again (they're rubbish at weather forecasts in this part of the country, because the patterns change so quickly -- though NOAA does a pretty good job) and we're now supposed to get snow (anywhere from 6-12" on top of what we already have).
Granted, it's nothing like what the mid-Atlantic (Washington, DC, for instance) is getting -- and we know how to dig out of it unlike them. ::laughs:: I grew up in DC; they have no plows to speak of, and even a couple of inches of snow paralyzes the city. They have over 30" in places now!
All it means here is that it will be very, very pretty for you, and if you like to ski, the ski slopes up north of us will have fresh snow, and you can cross-country ski right out our back door. There are miles of trails around the lake here. (I have extra x-country skiis here, if you would like to try it out
