[A ACTION, COMIC BOOKS STORE]

[In the middle of the store, there's a rather big man surrounded by the Superman comics. He seems to be reading them all. Don't worry though, workers- he'll certainly pay for it! He was raised right and he certainly knows this is not a library. And yes Kents, daddy is spending a lot of his hard-earned money on this.

[Opening the door is a ten year old boy, small for his age, frowning in mild confusion.]

I don't think so, sorry.

Oh. [He blinks and tilts his head, smiling a bit.]

And are you sure your parents didn't ask for one either?

I'm not sure, they're not here at the moment. Would you like to come in and wait for them?

[Apparently stranger-danger has passed Cain by completely.]

I... Guess? Are you home alone? Because that isn't really safe in a place like this.

They don't know I'm home alone, I came home from school early.

[Abel was too overprotective to let him be home all by himself if he'd known.]

Come in, the lounge is through here. Do you want a drink?

Ah- if you don't mind? I wouldn't want to be a bother.

[He steps inside, raising an eyebrow. The kid seems so... polite and responsible, not that he minds.]

What would you like? We have juice, milk, tea and wine.

[Cain hasn't yet learned that the milk is a bad idea, he's still pretty new to Mayfield.]

Tea is alright, really.

[He'd rather have milk, but he's luckily have some good friends around to tell him not to touch it.] Did your family buy the milk at the store, or did the milkman bring it?

I'm not sure, I think the milkman brought it.

[He drags a chair over to the counter, so he can reach the kettle that he's probably not supposed to be heating on the stove himself.]

I'm afraid you should not drink it the- wait, do you need help with that?

I can do it myself. I don't want you to get hurt.

[Tilting his head towards Clark, he smiled brightly.]

It's okay. You're the guest, and that means you don't have to do any of the work. Just relax, I'll make the tea and we can wait together for Abel and Miss Esther.

I really don't mind. It'd be rude of me to just wait in here while you make this, specially if you can't really reach it.

Don't worry about it, I can manage.

[Leaning over on the chair, he sets the old kettle on the stove and fiddles with the knobs a bit to turn it on.]

My name's Cain, by the way, it's nice to meet you.

I'm Clark, Clark Kent- should you really be using that? What if you burn yourself?

[He grins.]

Then it'll teach me to be more careful next time, right?

... Why don't you let me do it? I promise I really don't mind. How old are you anyway?
