Those auctions do sound creepy. And if they're forced to participate, I'd love to see how Gemma or Wren would get out of one (though I guess just Wren would even be in an auction since Gemma is a no soul...). Still, that would just be creepy... and icky. And I agree, sounds a lot like prostitution to me too. Love the world building here!

Gemma wouldn't be allowed to participate in a normal auction, though they might do a version at the anti-gay camp because they're stupid and think a fake auction will made the kids there heterosexual...somehow. Maybe it's like their final exam to prove how totally not gay they are now ( ... )
