The Crazy Life, Part the First - a.k.a. May Trip #2: Sighisoara

May 25, 2011 12:22

Friday, May 20: Packed. Also went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4, because... why not? It was okay, I guess. There was still crack, and Jack was still Jack. I didn't see it in 3D so the ticket price wasn't outrageous, either.

Saturday, May 21: I downloaded and watched the Supernatural season 6 finale, and went to the railway station at noon. The ( Read more... )

You have a good memory. I totally forgot that we saw the Clock Tower after the pasta, for instance :P
Thanks for the pics, btw. And kisses :*

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I always imagine a gothic atmosphere when I think about vampire. Threatening clouds rolling over a bloody gray sky and gloomy castle rising among sharp rocks...

LOL. What a surprise to look at sunny photos of a lovely city of postcard.
Did you eat something at the "Restaurant Casa Vlad Dracul"? ^^ Instead of vampires, your photos make me think of pohadky. ^_____^

Good that you had fun. It makes me wish I could visit the city one day.

On an unrelated note, the magazine publisher I've-mentionned-in-past-discussions has officially stated there will be something-that-is-of-interest-for-us in their next issue. ^_~

I am glad you enjoyed the photos. I do try my best to capture things the best I can while not slowing down my companions too much.

The gloomy atmosphere that seems to penetrate Hollywood whenever a vampire movie is shot is sort of... anticlimactic for tourism? Though if one visits in winter it's pretty gloomy what with all the barren trees. But I prefer to visit in spring/summer/winter, when it's all green or multi-coloured.

We did not eat at the "Restaurant Casa Vlad Dracul" because the prices were well above our budget. =_=

What is pohadky?

Yay for something-of-mutual-interest-that-is-related-to-project-that-shall-not-be-named!

Pohadky or Pohadka. I'm not Czech. Those are fairy tales and pohadky/pohadka became famous thanks to the movie productions that came from Czech Republic. The most famous of all is "Tri orisky pro Propelku" (adapation of Cinderella tale). You can find a subtitled version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlceyKgA9vI

You certainly must have watched at least this one when you were a kid? It's quite popular. I wish they would air it again in France like they used to when I was a child.

Ooooh, yes, I remember those. They did air them here at some point, though I was older at the time and only saw random ones rather than the whole series. Of course, they called them Slavic Fairy Tales and thus my total lack of idea about what they might be called in their language of origin.

Okay, that's a lot of photos :-) But no wonder! What a pretty place!! And great views to take pics of everywhere! I'd really like to visit your country some time in life!!!

I am photo-happy. :) So people have to learn how to appreciate my mediocre skills or not look. :P I advise against the latter, though, for I do take photos of shiny things. And cemeteries. ^v^

And I'd really like to visit your country, too. In spite of the cold, which I'm not too keen of... but sacrifices have to be made, eh? *snuggles*

Ha ha, me too! Sadly my rather cheap digital camera is not a very good one, and I haven't managed to solve the problem of it eating batteries like a... thing that eats batteries a lot :-D It always dies on me before I get to take all the pics I want, and usually takes much too bright pics... -.- But it IS really fun to take a lot of pics, isn't it? :-)

Let's hope that in the future we'll be able to swap countries with each other for a while :-D Aw, but if you go in summer, July and August, it isn't that cold :-)

Mine is not a professional/semi-professional camera either, because I wouldn't want to carry one around wherever I go. It's one of the compact, fairly-decent Nikons. This one, in black. I did get it a 4 Gb memory card, and rechargeable batteries. But even then sometimes it happens that the camera "eats" the batteries faster than I would like. There's a reason I carry the recharger with me wherever I go.

Swapping countries sounds like fun. Plain old visiting does, as well. I advise coming here either in April-May or September-November, as it is not too hot in these periods. :)

These are wonderful and so beautiful, and it seems you have had such a fun time in all the places that you have been visiting lately ( ... )

I definitely had fun, for I was visiting but also meeting with people whose company I like, and do not see as often as I would wish ( ... )

Ahaha, just advise the gloomy fans to visit in winter and they'll get all the creepy atmosphere they need. ^_^

I also thought it'd make a nice setting for Crimson Spell. Those old Eastern European cities are so perfect in the way they make you time-travel just by strolling their streets.
In a way, Val is not so far from a vampire. Maybe it'd be fun to have a side-story with the gang meeting some vampire demon. ^_~
Maybe sensei would think about visiting your country by looking at the photos?

One should also visit in winter and go skiing in the Carpathians. It's the season for it, after all.

Hmmm, Crimson Spell... Medieval town, fortress set on a hill top with the newer parts of the city stretching out underneath. Yeah, I can see that happen. ^_^

I believe sensei already told serena_daragon that she would be tempted to visit Transylvania. We obviously must tempt her some more! *cackles*
