New places popping up out of nowhere reminded Saga -- in an odd sort of way -- of his own previous knack for warping dimensions. But since it seemed to be the natural way of things in this odd place ... game ... whatever, why not investigate?
Time to approach the Quest Kiosk ~!
"This is ... mm, still rather new to me. May I ask for the basic rundown of how these quests work?"
"I know I can access the information readily enough, but I want to inquire."
"This is true; I wouldn't mind doing it a second time if it doesn't end up working out. I certainly have plenty of time."
The last note was a tad bitter, the resentment of having nothing to keep himself going day to day vaguely evident in his tone. But that expression caught his attention and his eyes widened a fraction, hands flying up.
"Oh no, no. You won't be in any danger, of that I can assure you. If there's any distracting going on, it'll simply be in conversation alone. I wouldn't possibly ask you to go along for my sake; I can just as easily go along for yours. Did you get the area words from the Game Master?"
"Like I said, I'm more than happy simply having someone to speak with. I guess you could say my usual companion usually keeps quiet, haha."
He nodded, smiling, and started for the Chaos Gate with a bit of a hop in his step going up the stairs. "Then to Sacred Sunshine's Weed Eater it is. Are you comfortable with your weapon, Gemini Saga?"
"I understand, and you're quite correct; it can be good to have someone who can respond, every once in a while."
Padding along just behind Gauche, Saga took a quick breath and then forced it out in a rueful chuckle. Habits, habits -- but he was not about to violate his strictures, not even here.
"I ... possess a weapon since I have arrived. But it is not something I would make use of use of, unless the abilities -- 'spells?' -- that accompanied it cannot be used without it."
"Hmm. May I see? I know two types where the weapon can be used, but is most often not. Where do you come from that you aren't allowed to use weapons?" It was asked in a curious tone, and no more. It seemed strange to him that-- if the world were anything like his own, with large monsters-- people were not allowed to use weapons, for self-defense or otherwise.
He, himself, had two guns holstered on his belt, slung low on his hips. One was older, and iron-- the other seemingly carved from translucent emerald, his first quest prize. He couldn't use them both at once, nor was he trained or learned in duel wielding, but he often switched between the two.
"Of course -- though perhaps it happens to be linked to the 'spells' of this place, in which case I may have a loophole of sorts .."
Saga produced the 'weapon' in question -- a basic grimoire, bound in brass and darkened leather -- with the air of someone highly amused at the idea of using the thing at all.
"It's ... mm, not my world that proscribes weaponry, but my religious order. The Lady Athena does not wish her Saints to use physical weaponry when we've trained to battle with our own spirit."
The explanation does no justice at all to the concept of cosmo and the power levels Saints can toss around, but Saga doesn't want to sound prideful.
At the sight of the book, Gauche smiled and nodded. "Yes, the books. They can be used as a weapon but they're very weak-- you can use the spells without them, so it should be all right I hope."
The letter bee stopped at the large spinning ring and took his Relic out, fumbling around with it for a bit until he sent Saga a party invite.
"There, this way we're recognized as a team. Did it go through?"

"At that, while I may not be a suitable 'level' to aid you much in combat, perhaps I can be a respectable distraction."
The cheerful expression in Saga's eyes suggested that yes, he was quite serious -- and didn't mind the idea in the slightest.

That cheerful glimmer is still there, with maybe a touch of old pain beneath it.
"And it's only proper for me to do what I can for you in return. Mmn ... yes, I believe I have the 'area words' -- Θ Sacred Sunshine's Weed Eater?"

"Where I belong, I may not use weapons."

Blinking, Saga retrieved his own Relic and checked it; then nodded, as he accepted the invitation.
"It did indeed --"
