Wednesday. Front hall. The door is open.
And something has come inside.
Filius jump ropes. It's a cold day, and the office building is drafty.
Avocet comes looking for Jacques in the room he and Tormaline share. He wanted to learn how to make breakfast grilled cheese. With ham. It's tasty.
Down the hall she hears Moonbeam's voice.
When she was a child, she heard stories of an ancient evil--an enemy to the great St. Cuthbert. An evil that was not to be awakened.
Once, when Moonbeam was a young woman, she dug a hole to plant an apple tree.
Her mother scolded her and filled in the hole with iron and salt blocks.
"To keep the evil from rising," she told Moonbeam.
Avocet doesn't make a sound.
Maybe she can make a run for it while it deals with Moonbeam...
Mid-sentence, the door opens.Tom is up running towards the little side bathroom before it has even raised its swollen head.
He slams the door behind him, cursing. He knows then, he is absolutely not supposed to be here. People are supposed to be able to talk without being in the same room, people are supposed to remember who their first kiss was, and he's pretty damn sure that at some point, people were supposed to have more than one joint in their fingers! A silence. Then Moonbeam yells "Get out!" and he does. So does the monster.
Tom watches it walk slowly down the stairs. Two flights. Out of sight.
Tourmaline has been watching. She says they should find Zero, he'll have a plan. Tom wonders privately if some one slipped him some hallucinogens.
Zero does have a plan. To the basement, he says. There's only one way down, we can wait it out there. It must have to eat, and if all the grilled cheese is put away, it will leave eventually.
The elevator takes a long time. Avocet put away all the leftover grilled cheese. It was tasty.
They wait.
Filius hears it first.
He doesn't say a word.
It's only a girl after all.
Zero locks the door behind him when it shuts.
It's a quiet night that night. Zero sleeps alone. He knows he made the right choice.
The halls are empty.
Filius made sure.

Some sims have been modified a bit from their original sculpt, though never more than a four clicks away from the original. I'm very picky about facial proportions. Cheekbones, nose width and nose height are primarily the things I end up messing with.)
