That's a good question. Since faith is believing WITHOUT reason, they can't believe in God just based on their faith. I hope they write you back (yeah right).

So, did you ever find out about the free masonry?

What my friend David Neff is referring to is that the idea of writing a letter to the Freemasons originated in a conversation I was having with him. The original idea for this letter was to write it humorously and ask the Freemasons to build me a stone fireplace at no cost to me (har, har).

While doing the initial research for that letter, I discovered the Freemason Lodge linked to in the letter and became fascinated with this facet of their beliefs. I decided that a worthwhile letter of inquiry was perhaps a better fit for this recipient. Besides, like I'm the first one to ever make the lame "Free Mason" joke before.

On another note, why don't you sign in before commenting, Dave? I know you have a LiveJournal account.

I guess I just don't really think about it...

My Dad's a mason. I guess I could get him to read your letter and see what he says about it.

That would be wonderful, and I would definitely post his full response in this entry.

If he has the time and is interested, see if he wants to write to me:

My Dad read it and is forming an opinion. He is also going to give you a list of people from his lodge [a different one in Arizona] who you can send this too.
