In which Amy tries to create a new layout for Experience Pearls

So I've been working on updating a few of my older sites and I decided to create a new layout for my Clover site. I'm sort of pleased with the results, but I'm not quite sure. There are a few things that I think could be better. First of all, there is the title. Is the font OK? How could I do it better? Second is the black behind her wing on the ( Read more... )

I think this looks wonderful! I love how texturized and papery it feels. If you're worried about "business", I would suggest taking out the feathery things near the wings. She already has wings, so dusting feathery stuff would break the focus of their presence. It looks absolutely gorgeous regardless and I can't wait to see it online!

Thank you for taking the time to comment with your suggestions. They were very helpful and I appreciate them. I deleted some of the swirly bits around the wings and added just a touch more light to those areas, which I hope empathizes the wings and the background a little better. I think the result looks a little more purposeful and a little less like I'm trying to fill up space. Thanks again. ^^

I like it. Your layout style is already complex in terms of graphics. I don't think it's busier than any of your other layouts. In fact, it's great, because you kept your general style but it's noticeably more soothing than the others, due to the combination of textures and colors you chose.

Title font looks good. Which font is it? It's classy and fitting for the layout theme. If I had to suggest something, perhaps you could make the bg box behind the title smaller, to border the font better.

Overall, very nice!

Thank you for commenting. I'm really excited about the colors because I rarely work with either gold or green, let alone together, so trying to make them work for me was a challenge.

The font is called "Algerian". I really didn't want a scripty font for this layout, but a simple serif font seemed too boring. I'm glad you think it looks good. I went ahead and made the text box smaller and deleted the swirly bits from the end.

I personally really like the layout how it is. : O I always love your layouts though, haha. I definitely do not think it is too busy.
