I should be one short of pissing fire this morning, but I am not. Actually if anything I am more surprised, somewhat disappointed and yet slightly optimistic

Personally I think Dave C wanted a hung parliament because if the SNP caused the landslide like they did then it's going to make his life over the next few years "interesting". The last thing that he wants is the break up of the union on HIS watch after all. Under a Labour watch, utterly fine as with the ambiguity of a hung parliament maybe. However if the UK falls apart under the watch of the Tories then it will be something that they will never be able to live down, or that the English Public will forgive them for. Personally I look forward to the next few years as he tries to sell hardcore Thatcher crap to a Parliament where his Majority is 12, the SNP are watching from the opposition seats, and anything could be spark that sets up the chain reaction that will be the breakup of the UK

I do not agree. I think England is an unashamedly right wing nation now. I quite simply do not belong here. Labour will never sniff power again, until they become Tory lite again. Loganberrybunny has said it; Blair has said it; My own father has said it.
I do not like it. In fact I detest it. But it is harsh electoral arithmetic.
Even on day 0, the singular burning issue for me is back on the agenda. They can't fucking wait a day. And yet barely a whisper beyond that article in the mainstream media.
Yes, I was that guy who voted Lib Dem. Exactly because this.
I heard this and it quickly went quiet again. Anyway Dave C's majority is 12, and the opposition will be a third or so composed of the SNP who will have NONE of that shit, and a little subject like that could be the little thing that sets the union on a fast path to breakup.
Personally I was expecting this type of crap from Labour as well (post Blair years), and the Lib Dems where always going to go extinct at these polls. However the Scottish socialist Landslide will make stuff like this interesting. Personally in public the tories are celebrating, but quietly I bet Dave C is shitting his pants at the prospect of running the country like this.
I'm afraid there is an authoritarian streak a mile long that runs through Labour. It was always my only real problem with the politics of the left. So even if the Conservative libertarians rebel, I worry they will get more than enough Labour votes to push this one through. :(
1 & 2 are things that I could easily see a Labour government doing as well. It's why I am not utterly depressed about the result. Such things while horrid where always going to happen I guess.
However the fact that the conservatives are wanting to embrace this so fast, so heavy and so up front is going to be interesting with the SNP having a large presence in Westminster now. As far as the Union is concerned it will be like driving towards a brick wall, only rather than steer away from the clear hazard, Cameron is keen to put a brick on the accelerator.
I wonder if he will be forgiven when the union breaks up?
And yes I said *when* not *IF* I think it's that likely now.
I want Wales to get out as well, but it's not there the support yet.
Anything to get away from the Tory/Labour system as both parties are practically the same anyways these days. I don't like central politics as you don't have much choice in things at all.
My sentiments are fairly much yours. ^_^ It's wretched that so many can see the stoking of poverty that Cameron has presided upon, with meaningless benefits sanctions, and the surge in food bank usage, but - yes, Miliband's gone. There's now at least the chance of someone willing to construct an actual Opposition, not just a party that'll happy snuggle to the Conservatives up on matters of workfare and sanctions, and universal surveillance.
How some journalists will survive without Farage to fawn over, I'll be delighted to witness. The 24/7 coverage given to any and all of his hatred has been quite baffling to witness. Maybe he'll just transition into the role of pundit? =:/
One sort of consolation is that electoral reform does indeed appear to be back on the books. That will mean UKIP presence, but also Green - needless to say, I'm fully behind the latter.
