Kamenashi Kazuya/KAT-TUN/Yamapi/ Nobuta wo Produce/ Kurosagi
Fabulous winterspel made a great post promoting music clips of Japanese singer/actor Kamenashi Kazuya and Japanese boy band "KAT-TUN". I have been listening to these clips on and off and I am pleasantly surprised. The standard of music and voices is quite high. The standard of dancing is even ( Read more... )

Oo! Truth about cats and dogs! I love that film, and I agree with you on the wonderfulness of the female friendship that is shown. I also really like Uma Thurman's character in this film, even if it's the main love story that really gets to me. It's one of those films that makes me happy when I watch it!

As for BSG

Adama condescendingly said “keep jumping”. It was said in a very very wrong way for me.

Oh yes - I so agree! I'm actually starting to be angry with PapaAdama. How can he talk like that to his son? Grrr...
But I loved how Lee saved the day.
That said: Ellen! *huge sob* and poor Tigh - and it's all so sad and horrible. (And the fact that he made her drink it? Somehow that struck me as very Greek - which I suppose is fitting considering the Colonial Mythology. It was just so sad - since drinking was something they in a way had in common. It just made me all teary...)

I know!!! I think I have heard about this film for the first time in queenofthorns's LJ. Again - LJ is the best!
And I liked Uma Thurman's character very much too. Everyone, including herself, thought that she was beautiful but dumb. I thought that actually she was very very bright, and even more so, clever in her heart. Some things she said were just great, like when she was trying to explain that she is not eating anything and she has "nothing" inside. But of course, I was totally rooting for the main heroine. And I know that Uma Turman's character will find a great guy too :)

Also considering that Lee DID save his life just the other day. Hmm, like a parent - I am not happy about this! ** sorry for a mini-rant **

BTW - have you seen a film called "Martha - meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence"? It's another of those films that always makes me happy. A British romantic comedy - but very sweet.

No, I have not !! Thank you very much for the rec- the combined appeal of Rufus Sewell/Tom Hollander/Joseph Fiennes is too much to resist :)

Hmmmm, I'm glad you like the clips I shared with you, but I should qualify with what I told you before, and that is that many Japanese singers do not always sound that great live, although there are also many who DO. The clips I shared were among the better sounding ones, but there are many live clips that sound less good in terms of being on key. But for me, and I think for most JE fans, it's something that we accept as part of the package, and part of the "cuteness" and "normal-ness" of the people we like, so it doesn't bother us much. KAT-TUN's studio work is all great-sounding, though ( ... )

I'm awfully glad you like the Kamenashi Kazuya pimp post. *Huge Smile* I was so nervous about it! :)

Oh, you didn't have to be! I really really appreciate it!! And I think many other people enjoyed it too!

but there are many live clips that sound less good in terms of being on key. But for me, and I think for most JE fans, it's something that we accept as part of the packageI understand this so well! They are also amazing entertainers indeed! Their dancing is so fabulous, even for my old-lady tastes. I think this is what must be of great value in Japan ( I am just guessing here) - the whole personality of the band members, The fact that their fans see them in shows and on stage. It is like Kame is not just Kame-the-singer, he is Hiroto at the same time ( ... )

The Truth About Cats and Dogs is one of my favorite movies ever! I call it the ugly girl's fantasy movie, because really, in real life, it never works out like that. But who cares? Not me, at least not while I'm watching, because it's so smart and funny and perfect.

I dunno, I actually thought that in RL someone looking like Abby + being incredibly warm and funny and clever like she is would have been snapped up very quickly. This is one of the real hypocrisies in films - when they want to show "plain" heroine, they find someone who still is looking pretty. "Jane Eyre" adaptations suffer from this. Ok, I sound like I am criticizing, I am not!! I loved this film!!!!

Clever articulate girls rule! Dogs and cats rule! Female friendship rules!!

I KNOW! It is an awesome film, and Ben Chaplin showed such promise as a leading man. Sigh. I must watch this again soon.

The Truth About Cats and Dogs is LOVE!!!! I've seen that movie too many times, and it's actually one of my favorite movies ever! EEE!

Clever articulate girls rule!
Absolutely!!! It's a pity that due to the language barrier I cannot be as articulate in English as I am in my own language :S... But I'll keep trying to improve my English!

Female friendship rules!!YAY!!!!! I couldn't live without my two BFF T and M, I love them dearly :D ( ... )

I know what say! I really want to go and study "English with creative writing" . :) But I personally think that you are so very funny and articulate in English! I imagine what you are in Spanish!!!!

because pets (and animals in genera) scare me

I can understand this. I was afraid of dogs for a long, long time. Actually, only having a dog as a pet cured me out it. You know, like I saw some program on TV when the people who are afraid of spiders were cured by making them hold HUGE BIG SPIDERS!

BSG: I was certainly underwhelmed by the first episodes of season three up to Exodus part 1, I even found the boring at times OMG! However, I think Exodus part 2 was pretty awesome. Collaborators was back to being MEH!

Actually, exactly my feelings!!! I can't wait for some more weight loss, though . Totally shallow. :)

and Papadama, ( ... )
