Where I rage about: Apple and LJ

Nov 10, 2011 22:13

I don’t get really angry very often. Not at all. This is probably the first time I am ANGRY on LJ pages.

I HATE APPLE: Apple!!!!!!!!!!! I never liked the brand in the first place, for principal reasons, but now I have a reason to HATE IT PERSONALLY. I will dedicate my life to campaigning against this evil bunch. Why? The story goes like this ( Read more... )

apple, apple is rubbish, lj

Ugh, I know! Personally, I never had an iPod Touch/iPhone, but of the people I know that have one, at least 5 of them went through the exact same situation you did. The absolute worst. If my phone was like that I'd be screwed, as it seems to be particularly fond of flying. (Except it can't and it ends up on the floor.)

AND LJ IS JUST BEING THE WORST TODAY I CANNOT DEAL ANYMORE BRB GOING TO BED

And yay, congrats on your new phone! :D

I think the customers at least should be warned at the purchase about the fragility of the Apple products.

Lj has to man up!

Oh I actually never saw you in Greyjoy Kraken mode before. I'm going to hide all the axes just for a couple of hours ^^.

Ugh Apple stores are rubbish tbh. I never understood anything about them. And gosh 1h10 o_______________O. They should bring coffee and cake at this point.

LJ is acting all weird yes. I've been on it for the past hour and it's all cranky. I guess it's another of those times.

Android is good then? Because I need to buy something like an ipod for my mum for this Christmas and I have not the patience to go to the Apple store tbh. But then she also want to go and watch Mamma Mia so maybe I will give her that. I don't know. The hunt for presents begin :/.

Lol, I am a Greyjoy not for nothing!

depending on what you want to buy, I would rec:

- for an mp3 player, a little Sansa (I have heard good things about) or one of Walkmen.

- for a phone, an Android, especially HTC.

- or an Android tablet, they can be as cheap as 150 f, but I would have done some comparing reviews..

I, too hate apple products. I love our HTC Desire android phones and we bought an ASUS tablet rather than an evil iPad :)

I really like the look of HTC desires. I bought myself a cheaper Android, but I do like these. :D

I might buy my daughter an Android tablet for Christmas, I really like the idea.

Never had anything Apple, it's rare in my country... my phone is a Samsung, and I had to take it out and look it up! I don't give a fuck about electronic brands. Can I phone/sms on it? Then it will do.

They aren't as popular in Russia too, I think Russians seem to be less prone to waste money, they have less of these money..

When I bought the ipod touch for my sister and after hearing horror stories about it AND also taking in consideration how often my sis tends to drop things, I bought her a hard case and slapped a screen protector on top of the screen as well. Just in case. She HAS dropped it many times, but it didn't smash. We even removed the protective protector and even like this, it doesn't have a scratch on it. My ipod classic? Despite the hard case? Has some scratches on the back, but that's pretty much it. I guess with Apple it's a case of bad or good luck with any of their items.

As for LJ? I'm not even surprised.

What android phone did you get if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking into new models in case I want to get rid of the one I'm using (most likely. This was a gift and I HAAAAATE it)

I WISH I WAS WARNED. I think I am going to write to their customer service and ask for "Fragile" warnings to be attached to their stuff. I Googled before going and the breakability seems to be a common problem, but me? I HAD NO IDEA! I thought - something that cost 250f for a little device like that? should be fine! My new Dell (the one-piece one), for example, fell off the desk onto the concrete floor (this WAS my fault because I was fiddling with it and was half-asleep) and there is is literally NO SCRATCH. And the thing weights much more than the ipod does ( ... )

OMG Long comment is long. Sorry *hangs head in shame* blueocean80 November 11 2011, 19:23:13 UTC
I did bring this up on more than one occasion, but maybe that was before we met? *ponders* IDK. When I was making up my mind about my sister's gift, I talked about getting a hard cover on my journal for sure. When I have to fork out that much money, I always research a ton, watch reviews etc. That's because I'm paranoid but when I buy something, I'm usually 100 % satisfied with my purchase (I'm talking about electronics and tech gadgets. For some reason I don't research other products quite as much. I'm doing the same with the ereader I'm half considering buying) TLDR: I'm sorry you didn't know that some Apple users weren't satisfied adn that ipods do break ( ... )

I usually also do the same. In ipod touch case, I think my heart "wasn't in it". As I posed before, I don't like Apple for principal reasons, so forking out 230f on an Apple product felt like betraying my own principles, so I just .. you know.. tried to think as less about this as possible? ;D ( ... )

I would agree that I was brainwashed but I am in computers and thus a universal lover of almost everything tech and therefore am blinded by my passion. However, I have always felt that they charge unfairly for damaged products.

I broke my mobile once on vacation and the company that sold me it, gave me a new one for half price despite it being almost two years old. No complaints. Apple was like when my ipod broke "you can get a new one..." since well it was past date of return and nothing broke externally it was all them. I actually did buy a new one though- because I need music when I'm exercising.

Unfairly is a poor word for this. :D I bought the iPod against my better judgement (my daughter has a peer pressure at school :D) , but paying 250f for something that obviously doesn't cost as much to produce I expected a better customer service. And how mistaken was i!

I am a lover of everything tech and to tell the truth - this is the main "principal" problem I have with Apple, their "walled garden" business model that doesn't allow me do do anything with "my" device. I am a programmer, I like tinkering with things and I like control, which ipods or ipads don't let me to have.
