More about LJ DOS attacks

From fabulous endlessdeep, this is an interesting article: Why Have Hackers Hit Russia's Most Popular Blogging Service?I am a practical person. Unless I am given some very tangible proof, I am not sure what to think. I think it is as likely that DOS attacks are caused either by LJ's competitors or some group of hackers somewhere who don't have anything better ( Read more... )

More I think of it, I begin to agree - this doe look like a political attack

I wish they can find the perpetrators. It is very very difficult but sometimes the manage to find people responsible. I really wish they could.

I know for sure that both my home and my work address is dynamic, so I don't think that necessarily works. But I think you would have noticed if you are "zombified"

Yes to the first and not necessarily to the latter. I was sure I was clean for different reasons: 1)my ip is dynamic, too 2)I'm pretty OCD about the security on my computer and 3)my ISP was working on my DSL line so there was no way anyone could have used it since it was kaput for days. ^^

That said, someone a bit less tech savvy than us could use the info. No? ;)

I was zombified myself in the middle of night so I forgot to say THANK YOU!

Also, even if IP is dynamic , it will be within a certain set of numbers in a certain place. So if your/my town is not marked this would be a definite proof.

I am going to re-post this.

Also I noticed LJ finally introduced captcha for anonymous comments - this must be the reason why spamming calmed down in the last 2 weeks or so.
