Call Me Olivia

…Luce stepped aside in the doorway to allow the Detective inside. As she passed by her, Olivia could feel the friction created from just the sharing of space with this violated flower. She was intoxicated immediately. The result was a slight but visible shiver. Luce closed and locked the door behind her.
“Did you find him?”
“Damn close… We have a fail proof lead thanks to you.”
“So he’s still out there?”
“We’re going to get him Luce… it’s just a matter of time now. This is a good thing.”
“A good thing? You try sleeping in my bed at night Detective.” There was a long silence.
“I’m sorry. It’s not you I’m angry with.”
“Don’t apologize.”
“I just don’t want to remain this person I’ve suddenly become. I’m afraid to leave this apartment… all because of some asshole.”
“Luce, of course this is going to take time… it just happened. You don’t get over this over night. He won't take the rest of your life away from you.”
Luce’s posture and facial expression changed suddenly and she shook her head slowly, “How do you do it?... Make me feel so safe?”
“It’s my job.” A pulse shot right through Olivia.
“No… It’s more than that… and I think you know it. I can’t just be imagining this.”
“Imagining what?”
“This…” Luce stepped into Olivia’s space and it became crystal clear that intensions were being derailed. She carefully and so slowly ran her hand up Olivia’s leather collar and to the back of her neck, into her short hair. She just looked at her for a moment and Olivia was paralyzed by the heat of her hand in that spot. She then leaned in and touched her lips to the corner of the dark Detective’s.
Olivia could see herself trying to stop this. She was screaming inside of her head… but her hands found Luce’s hips and she turned into the kiss. It began to grow into something so desperate and Olivia pulled back, out of breath.
She had to close her eyes for a moment. “This is wrong.”
“That should be my call, shouldn’t it?”
“Your emotions aren’t being truthful right now Luce... not after what happened to you… You’ll regret this.”
“What about you, Olivia? Are your emotions being truthful?”…
