Box of Awesome: Revealed

Sep 10, 2011 22:31

As promised, I will reveal the contents of my Box of Awesome, sent to me by genagirl, in return for the box o' crap that I sent her.

When I looked in my foyer for the mail, I found an intriguing brown cardboard box.  (Note: I took a picture of it before I opened it, but you can read my address on it, so if I posted it I'd have to lock the post, ( Read more... )

LOL! You make it all sound so good I kinda want it back!!! Not really!! I did make the House/Wilson triptych, the angel pendant and the "book in a bottle". I knew you were into DS, H, and Sentinel which I have been into at some point in my life and I have lots of stuff lying around from fandoms I like but not follow. Glad you like the CDs, they've been in my closet for ages. I sent the MUNCLE book because I had hunted out a bunch for another friend but she had that one and it was handy. I sent the card with the steam clock on it because it is from Gastown in Vancouver where Sentinel was filmed. I've been there several times, once for a Sentinel Convention and I picked this up at that time. I didn't know that pen made noise! Really? It's sit on my printer since I got it - someplace. I was cleaning off my desk so you got that as well. I can not believe the teacup is the same pattern as your grandmother's!!! I was in Goodwill looking for craft supplies and turned around and saw it. I loved the wheat pattern and remembered ( ... )

It's all great stuff! I'm glad to know you were happy to part with all of it; I'll give it a good home! (With the possible exception of that pen.) I discovered the pen's noisemaking ability when I was trying to figure out what the hole near its mouth is about. (I never did figure that out.)

The teacup is very serendipitous and cool! It's not a hugely rare pattern--I have seen it in thrift shops before, and I always think about buying it because it was what my great-grandmother had, and I didn't get hers, but I never actually got around to buying any. So I'm glad I have it. I think the stuff might have been given away as premiums with washing powder, although that might have been her other set; I'm not sure.

Yeah, it's kind of neat. I wonder if there's an updated edition--it's from 1996, and I'm sure lots of stuff has been filmed there since then.

And now the cut is working, but I don't want to edit the post again to take out the part about it not working, in case that makes it stop working again.

You got a great haul!!!

I adore the Man from UNCLE. It is slashy as hell and considering it was made in the 60s, that's something that there's still a very active fandom going on.

The wheat pattern is so vintage! Love it.

I looked, and unfortunately Man from Uncle isn't on Netflix Watch Instantly. I'll have to wait to get it until I have a working DVD player again. (Which, actually, needs to be soon because I have to watch a movie for a library school class, and the one I picked isn't on watch instantly either.) It may be one of those fandoms where I just have to watch enough to understand the fic....

Awesome haul! If you ever want to do such a thing again I am signing up for it right now, since I'll probably end up late again because of timezones. But China is so full of awesome crap, I want to send out boxes of it. LOL

OK, I'll remember that! I have sent out much of my best crap, but I expect I'll have a new supply built up soon.
