so... I'm not sure if this is old news to everyone but me, but I came across this early (earliest?) draft of SPN by Kripke yesterday and OH MY GOD.

I've cut the rest of this post for spoilers... if there's such a thing as getting spoiled for an early version of an episode that aired a little over a decade ago.

I remember looking at this before! Though it's been far too long, because I don't remember Jess living! How do you forget Jess living, jfc

yes to everything!! to me, this version read a lot more like fanfic than it did an actual episode, what with (possible)serialkiller!Dean and the boys actually having a real home and relatives to look after them... a lot of it gave me warm tickly fuzzies, but plot-wise there are a lot of relationships left open-ended that would have created lots of complications real fast - Sam breaking up with Jess instead of watching her die (do I like this option more? less? that's another can of worms for another day), the civilian relatives to whom they'd need to keep building lies/cover stories, etc
