Those are beautiful. I haven't got to grips with the close-up feature on my new camera yet - it doesn't do what I think I've told it to do... Oh, and I haven't looked at your Sharpe post yet but I do have it bookmarked.

That not-ladybird is only missing some spots. Though maybe the wing cases are a little different. I like the idea of the thistle having a wig...

Those features marked as 'macro' are actually like pirate codes - more guidelines than rules, so to speak. Or at least this is how cameras seem to take them... A lot depends on how long is your camera's minimal focal range, but basically anything better than a pocket point-and-shoot has it around 1 cm, usually. Then again, I don't really know what you exactly mean by not doing what you thought you've told it. :) Shout out, if you think I could help in any way.

Ehh, I'm afraid I haven't managed to put in the Sharpe post much of what you didn't know already...

Lovely... I get lots of pictures of flowers and plants, but my camera is too slow to catch insects!

That's why I hunt mostly those lazy ones. ;> Butterflies are happy drunkards when on a flower, but ants are almost impossible no matter where...

Oh, nice to hear it! I was hesitant about whether this one is good enough to let it online. :)
