that's really interesting, I get that with certain things on occasion (Whenever I answer the phone without knowing who it is, I always grab off to my left to find a piece of paper to write a note on, even if it means punching a wall >.

Oooch!

At least mine just looks a little odd. Hitting a wall is just.

Ow.

Wow...I love learning new things. Thanks for sharing this.

Really neat use of the topic, too...things that just stick around forever!

Hey, glad to share. There's just so much weirdness out and about, I thought I'd share a little bit of the weird I've got with everyone.

Oooh this was a great, interesting story! There are definitely worse habits to have than jazz hands.

I sure think so!

Still, though, it's just weird to catch yourself doing it.

I'd heard about this from other casino workers... ellakite November 8 2011, 05:03:45 UTC
And goodness knows, I've developed my own unusual habits due to Pavlovian conditioning.

You can break the habit. It takes time, but it can be done.

And in the meantime, comfort yourself with the knowledge that as habits go, this is *NOTHING* to be ashamed of.

PS: Very well written.

Oh, I'm sure it'll fade with time. It's just weird until then. Not so much ashamed as just a quiet amazement when I notice it that it's still happening.

There's a similar thing in Scrabble; you're supposed to hold the tile bag above your head and show that your hand is empty before drawing. One occasionally catches oneself doing this with, say, a bag of chips. :)

Nicely done!

Maybe me and mine never played the game right, but I'd never heard that rule before!

Glad you liked it!
