I don't know you from Adam, but pretty much all of this, yes. If anything, the adaptation is being a *lot* more realistic with the situation than it was in the books.

Also, as far as the narrative structure of the TV series goes, it would be weird to show her enjoying her first time and then - subsequently, he does rape her. Every night. She doesn't enjoy it. She doesn't consent. It is rape.

I'm pretty pleased with what they've been doing with it so far, overall. The scene with Doreah was staged in a weird way that made it feel a bit like a soft-core lesbian porno, but the conversation they had really illuminated what was going on there - Dany isn't looking to please Drogo for its own sake - she wants to find a way to feel like she has some kind of control of this shitty situation - and it is a shitty situation.

The fact that she finds some common ground with Drogo later on, shouldn't be too hard to portray, I don't think.

HA yes I see with have pretty much the same thought process on this matter!

IA that taking control of a shitty situation is exactly what she is doing, not because she wants to, but because she must. If just to make the situation more bearable.

I can actually kind of understand the Dany/Drogo changes... I mean, I like the dynamic a bit better in the book, but the more I think about it, the more I realize it wouldn't work on screen. Those scenes rely almost entirely on Dany's internal thought process, and her private resolutions to make the best of a bad situation. If they presented the scene on screen like that, it would just read like "oh, being sold by my brother isn't so bad after all!" While I don't like what it initially does for Drogo's character, this adaptation DOES externalize Dany's situation a bit, creating a visual dichotomy of her options--ie, Drogo vs. Viserys--so that her gradual realization that maybe Drogo is actually the better option for her is something that happens externally ( ... )

I enjoyed Frontierland a whole lot, a new favourite episode for me. Dean being so gleeful made me grin, and I love the boys being so at ease around each other now. I’m curious about what Castiel is up to, and I’m waiting to confine in the boys or for Dean and Sam to realize that Castiel is lying. It amazes me that they haven’t already as he’s so bad at it. I just hope he’s not going dark-side. I loved that he came to Bobby for shelter through. Dean looked amazing from start to finish ( ... )
