Had my first Yiddish class last night. Of course, I am the only one there whose grandparents didn't speak fluent Yiddish or whose parents spoke Yiddish and used it to talk 'so that kids wouldn't understand'. Mine didn't speak for one simple reason: they weren't really Jewish. :D I think that's the main difference between me and other people in my class.

I have some Jewish relatives, but they are not in the immediate family. My great-grandfather on my father's side was from Poland and I think he was Jewish, but I know next to nothing about him.
