I would think the squats and deadlifts also help build up strength in your core muscles. I don't like situps either. I thought about trying the cable rotation exercises but I never felt quite like I was doing them correctly so I never stuck with them.

Yes. Particularly the Goblet Squat, which, because you're having to balance the weight in front of your body, really seems to develop some core strengh.

I feel reasonably decent about the Cable Rotations. But my Wednesday routine (up yesterday) has a bunch of exercises that I'm not as comfortable with. For example, for the Cable Face Pull, how wide to my shoulders have to get (the rope isn't wide enough to let them get really wide). I also hate lunges and think I do them terribly, but I am going to try to give it a diligent effort (my problem is bending the 'back' knee - it is not natural for me so it ends up staying pretty straight).
