Pretentious Meta Post of the Day

Oct 14, 2006 14:28

To me, it looks like livejournal is going the way of the personal home page. Two years ago, during a day my friends list would have 80 or 100 new posts, many of them interesting. Yesterday I think it was five. This is not an isolated incident - it is a year long trend. On top of that, I get the impression it's true of a lot of other people too ( Read more... )

Your eggplant example made me laugh, because just the other day I was this close to posting a one-sentence entry that said: "I'm officially done with artichokes."

You missed an opportunity!

Yesterday I had an artichoke and olive foccacia which was pretty damn good. So your post could have inspired a throw-down.

Well, I'm really sad to be giving up artichokes, because it was love at first bite for me. I had some perfectly prepared artichokes on a sublime pizza ... oh, they were wonderful. But ever since then, the artichokes I've eaten always have those nasty, papery, inedible parts that I end up chewing and spitting out. Bleah!

Anyway, it was an artichoke-olive-pesto-pepper-tomato-etc. pan bagna that inspired this hypothetical elljay post. It was also very damn good, but man, I hated having to spit out all that fibrous artichoke byproduct.

I would like to add that if someone has something that IS particularly important to them or that their friends should be aware of, make it a separate post. I feel bad skimming a post about someone's hobby or something they did that I might not particularly care about, only to find out something really important was buried alive in the post about the 6th loaf of bread they baked today.

And I like ljcut. its like opening a present.

YES!

In an ideal world, there would be a hint in the title at least ("Important news in paragraph 6" or "On Bread and Important Breaking News You Don't Want To Miss", etc).

Well, my nfl related posts will remain cut!
