(Totally inappropriate to post here, but heh) I went and seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight, and I seen the trailer for Harry Potter. As soon as the blue flames came up I was wiggling in my seat, so excited. (I couldn't get the trailer to download, I tried for so long to get it, and it didn't work. So I was a fangirl for the one minute and twenty-six seconds that it was on for.) Cannot wait for the Yule Ball scene, or the tasks, or hell - any of it!

I really like it! *Grins* And oy, Photoshop 5? You're brave, I can't do a thing with that program. At all. If you want your face to be darker, then you can add a new layer and use a dark brown/black brush to cover your face, then set the layer to soft light and play around with the opacity; that should help. But for a first try? Wow. It's absolutely wonderful. :)
it took me a while to figure out how to do each step using Photoshop5... I used the Help feature a lot! Thanks for the advice - I'd actually tried adding a layer and filling it brown, then playing with the opacity, but it hadn't worked. It didn't occur to me to just fill my face. Thanks for the kind words. I have to say, though, I was working with a great picture. It has to be the best photo ever taken of me. And I was following your great steps. I've modified the icon a bit - my face is darker, but my hair seems to be blonder than it was before (not sure what happened there). (I am a little worried that it looks like my make-up gun was set to 'whore'!)
I'll keep playing with it till I'm happy.
I guess, to put some copper back in my hair I just add anotehr layer and play with it?

I think... From some angles, though, I think my cheeks are way too dark. Do you think so? (I was a bit tipsy when the pic was taken - that might not help my colouring.) Incidentally, for those of you not in Australia (which would be most of you, I imagine), I was on the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House when this pic was taken.

(And I'm using Photshop5!)
I know my face is a little too pale, I guess that's a problem with the background layer?
I wasn't sure in Step 9, how to modify the colour... I gave that texture 15%, but it still washed me out a lot.
Is it ok for a first go?!
Thanks for this tops tutorial. (I should really get back to work now!)

And may I also add that I'm quite envious that you've been to the Sydney Opera House? Eek. I would love to go there.
But again: great job. :)
