OK, so here is the major problem with On the Lot: it sucks. I watched it last night - and God knows why, because it wasn't like I didn't have anything better to watch, with The Wire beckoning seductively from the DVD player.
(
But watch it I did, and now I've written a bunch - OMG so much, what the hell happened there? - about it. )

I began watching right after gorging on five seasons of The Shield, and it was a little jarring at first - The Shield is such a distinctive - and great! - show with a really particular style, and The Wire felt juuuuust enough like it but juuuuust different enough to make it hard not to start comparing the two unfavorably with each other. But - if I may attempt a pretentious sort of log-lining of the two shows - I think The Shield is a much more individual and increasingly emotional show; whereas The Wire strikes me as being more about the networks we form around ourselves. And also about information. Or something - reading that over, I don't think it makes much sense. Anyway. Give it a go sometime ( ... )

I loved her "Stop being a codependent dancer! Figure it out!" moment in the Vegas week auditions. So, so, mean. But so amaaaaaaazing. Did you youtube the sunflower routine? That's my favorite of hers.
