Oooh, doubly intriguing.

I like this interpretation, that Pepper resists Stark's flirtations so well because she's already been there, done that, learned her lesson. And Tony of course, doesn't have an inkling.

Hm, interesting take. Totally believable that Tony wouldn't remember her.

Oh wow, i'm loving this fic. Your writing style is deft and incisive, you are very good at saying a great deal while maintaining a spare sense in the language. The voice in this part is so very Pepper -- constrained, forcibly muted because it's 'proper, efficient, PA behaviour', and she is the perfecty proper efficient PA now, nothing like Virginia, that slightly wild and uninhibited young thing. I LOVE the idea that she has already succumbed as that other person buried in her past to Tony, and that this is part of why she is not immune, but also not receptive, to his charms/overtures now. I've tossed that idea around in my head, as I'm sure many have, but I couldn't have ever fleshed it out as wonderfully in my head as you have here; of *course* the details of their encounter are absolutely, perfectly right, but there's also the little things -- from her modeling past which sets the scene perfectly and could make her more reticent now to the fact that it was a maid (in an age pre-Jarvis and the robots) to find Pepper the next day ( ... )

I like your take on them and the way the story is sort of unfolding. This really stands out as being different from a lot of other fics I've read. I look forward to reading the rest!
