Oooooh!! My heart! It hurts for Renji! I would say also Ichigo, but that's more like a full body ow as well. Hooray for half healed internal injuries... Or something. Hopefully this will not keep going for much longer... I don't know if my heart can take it! (Although I will say all the nummy interludes are definitely increasing my stamina, haha.)
And um, I might have to read your Byakuya/Ulquiorra fic just because it has Byakuya. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet, but I'll let you know when I do.
Renji's heart still hurts, but at least he's having smexy dreams. And Ichigo is doing a damned good job of pulling himself together.
The ByaUlqui ficlet isn't scary at all - that one is pre-slash, so it's not bad to get your feet wet. :) The long story that I will be posting in the future will be the full deal. I won't hold it against anyone who doesn't like it, though I think most of my readers would be pleasantly surprised if they give it a chance. :)
Hehe, I read the ficlet. I'm just generally usually reluctant to start reading a new pairing, because then if I like it it's inevitable that I will end up searching through tons and tons of drek to find more good ones. Especially when I already know that it will be well written and interesting. *cough cough*
And yeah, Ichigo is doing a great job on his lonesome, I just feel kind of bad for him. Being stuck there all wounded and no way to sense anything less blunt than a brick to the face, with no way to tell time... At least he has some company, I suppose.
And uh, do we have any estimate on when we can look forward to reading more of this exciting new pairing? (because I need to be reading more fanfic rather than doing schoolwork, haha. Oh, how I adore thee, akuni's fanfic...)
Haha sorry, no estimate. I have a lot more writing time nowadays, but I still have other obligations that sometimes pull me away.. and after the stress of working on Covenant for a year, we're trying to pace ourselves on the next one. It definitely won't be a year, though, hah! It's not nearly this long of a story. :) (And thanks for the vote of confidence!)
They're sharing dreams? Awesome. Means Ichigo's getting stronger and closer, I think. (also, it's a nice break from me obsessively hitting refresh on the primary results) You can do it Ichigo! Just keep following your instincts, like you always do!
Hahaha. Sorry to butt in, but I am also refreshing the cnn election page over and over again, waiting to see who wins. I agree, this is a wonderful break from politics! ^_^
Very powerful. The part with Rukia and Byakuya was so touching. I'm with Rukia on this one, tears everywhere! To see Renji reaching out for Ichigo in his sleep is gut wrentching. At first I thought the scene was Ichigo dreaming it but then it looked like Renji had drempt it. I wonder if they were sharing the dream?
In the desert, Ichigo was being pulled along by a feeling of "something." I'm wondering if he was responding to Renji's intermitent presence in Hueco Mundo. Hmmm. I am glad that he has a general plan to follow now, especially when he realized that his friends weren't waiting for him in the desert. Ichigo was very much in character by not getting made or feeling abandoned. He understands, though it makes him sad. ;_;
(NO SPOILERS) I read the amount chapters left. I'm glad to know that way I can prepare myself for when the end is near. Just like reading a book. ^^
I just love the way Byakuya has "thawed." It allows for really touching moments like this one. Thanks for the cookie! Did I guess something right or did you make an extra batch of chocolate chip? hehehe.
I agree, on one hand I'm excited to find out the ending and also so I can reread the whole thing in one or two sittings. On the other hand, it'll be over and that'll be sad too. Though I saw your post about Byakuya/Ulqu. I'm intrigued b/c I've never even fathomed them together before. I'll definitely give the long story a shot, especially knowing that you're writing and Shelagh is illustrating!!
Thank you for the compliment about Byakuya. :) I worked very hard to build on what we've seen of Byakuya's softer side, and develop it in a reasonable way (mostly off-camera) in the nine years since canon. With the people that are important to him, he is able to show it a bit more.
Cookies are always for the first person to twig an important point or have an insight. :) I think I owe the lizard one, actually...
Boy, my head swelled about three sizes reading that last bit. *^_^* That's a huge responsibility, but I think we're doing a pretty good job so far on the next project.
Ichigo was picking up on Renji and then he had to leave! How awful!. They both get that "that way" feeling. They are so alike. Byakuya is turning into a regular ole softy there. Of course he'd never admit it, but it's obvious he's feeling what Rukia is feeling. I'm definitely doing the love/hate thing about endings....but I read the end of books too, so there you go.
Byakuya would never openly admit that he's just as awed by the depth of bond between Renji and Ichigo, but he's there to support his sister and his friend.
Endings are so hard, but the fun part is that later on you can read it as a whole, and take the journey all over again. It's been a long time since the beginning, and you get a different feel when you're reading it as a whole and not as a serial. It's going to be a crash for me after finishing posting this. When I finished writing, it was a tremendous shock... a year's worth of effort had just wrapped up! When the whole story is out and posted, Covenant will truly be over, and I will so miss talking to everyone three times a week. Maybe I ought to actually start posting proper things in my LJ so I can keep all my new friends. :P

Were they sharing the dream? It's entirely possible; their bond is very strong, and runs very deep. ♥
*gives cookie* ^_^ Coming to the end of a book is a real love-hate thing sometimes, isn't it?
