[fic] NEWS Hotel -chapter 1-
Shige lifted his head and nodded at Pi, who was walking by, heading to his office. Today was going to be a relaxed day: just12 check-outs and 4 check-ins, and the occupancy rate is around 40%. He smiled a bit.
“Good morning Kato-kun!”
He turned his head to see the young receptionist.
“Good morning, Tamamori-kun.”
“Too much work for today?”
“Not at all. Look” He signalled to the computer screen. “Domoto-san is an acquaintance of the president and Yamashita-san’s sempai, so please, give him an upgrade* and charge it as a standard room, ok? And when he arrives please call me.”
“Ok”
“Massu called and told me the pre-paid TV in room 412 isn’t working so I locked it. Please tell the other receptionist not to assign it to any guest. I’ll be in the back office if you need anything.”
With a nod form the younger boy, he went inside the office to find himself face to face with the firstlast person he wanted to see so early in the morning.
“Tsk. Didn’t I tell you to cut your hair, Kato? It annoys me everytime I see your face.”
“Good morning to you too, Nishikido-kun” Shige said sitting himself in front of his desk. “Shouldn’t you be working instead of getting on my nerves?” he said and started looking at the rooming list* of the group from Osaka for next week.
“Nah, this is funnier.” He smirked.
“I’m sorry but I’m not here to amuse you. I have real work I have to attend to.” The younger glared at him.
“Ok, smartass and what do I do then?”
“…look around?”
“Fuck you.”
“Love you too.” Shige said without taking his eyes out of the computer
“Don’t worry, I know you do.” Ryo smirked.
Shige was NOT blushing at all.
“In your dreams…”
“Kato-kun, can you come here for a bit?” Thank God was the first thing he thought after hearing Tamamori-kun calling for him.
“Ok!” he said to the receptionist and lifted himself from his chair, leaving Ryo ready to give him a snarky retort.
Ryo tsk-ed angrily. Teasing the front-desk manager was his morning capsule of energy, and when he couldn’t have it or someone interrupted him it made him snarky. Now he needed to scare a few juniors to balance his day.
“Well, shit.”
When Shige arrived to the front desk, Takaki had arrived already and Koyama was going through the free-rooms list with him, checking if everything was correct.
“Morning, Kei-chan.”
“Hi Shige, was Ryo showering you with lovely words again?” He teased his long-time friend.
“Oh, yeah, He’s so sweet I think I’m going to get diabetes or something.” Koyama couldn’t stop his laugh.
“C’mon Shige. You enjoy it, admit it.”
“Did you come here to laugh at me? Or you have something to tell me?”
“Ok, ok. I’ll stop. I need you to change some assignments”
“How many?” He went to the computer to make the changes.
“Three. Room 124 for 211, 335 for 426 and 112 for 117” Koyama read from the papers in his hand.
“Ok, done. Is something wrong with the first ones?” Shige asked
“None, it’s just that I need to clean those really well. Someone smoked in the rooms last time and the smell doesn’t go away. So I prefer to have them locked.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll tell the guys about it. Ne, ne” He tugged Koyama inside the back office “Do you have a present for Yamapi already?” The older blushed a bit.
“I’ve thought about a few things, but I think I want our anniversary to be a bit different this year… Maybe a trip to somewhere…”
“I knew you would do that, so I called to our hotel in L.A. Akanishi-kun has just been transferred there to be the General Manager, you know it, so we talked a bit and he told me that ‘as Pi’s bestfriend he has the obligation to reserve for you their Luxury Suite for 3 nights, free charge’. So you just have to buy the tickets. What do you think?”
“Wow! That’s great, Shige! Thank you! You know me too well ne?”
“That’s why I’m your best friend.” He smiled to the older one, hugging him.
“Something good happened?” Massu said as he entered the back office and saw the other two like that.
“Not really” Koyama said laughing a bit and letting go of his friend.
“And there couldn’t be something better for you today that Tegoshi starting working here, could it, Massu?” Shige teased the management manager. The latter just smiled like a child with new shoes.
“Yeah. Now I can see him everyday!”
“It was hard for you with him working that far away, right?” Koyama asked with sympathy
“Yes, But that doesn’t matter anymore. Now we’re living together and working together. So we can make up for all that time being away.”
“When is he coming, by the way?”
“Afternoon. He needed to take care of a few things about the apartment.”
“Do you want me to call you when he arrives?” Shige asked
“That would be good. Thanks”
“No problem.” Shige smiled at him.
After that they went to their respective places and kept working.
Meanwhile on the 5th floor…
“Ryo-chan, don’t you have any work to do? ANYTHING?” Yamapi whined as he tried to take off his friend’s foot from his desk.
“Nope.” He said, reading a magazine full of gravure idols
“Boss the bellboys around?”
“Done.”
“Hide amenities from the new floor-waiters carts?”
“Done.” He turned the page
“Send anything lost to a guest’s house?? Bother Shige??” Yamapi whined desperately.
“Done and done.” Ryo smirked.
“But I can’t work with you here like this!!”
“Deal with it for a little longer.” Yamapi sighed
“How much?”
“Until I get bored.” The young manager growled and looked with puppy eyes to the older one. He sighed.
“Ok, what do you want?”
“I knew you would give up sooner or later” Ryo said throwing the magazine away.
“Tell me before I change my mind.” the poor Pi massaged his temples a bit.
“I need the evening of this Friday free. I’ll take Shige out for a drink.” He smiled
“He accepted?” said Yamapi a bit shocked and leaving his work alone for a while
“Oh, he doesn’t know yet. But he’ll say yes. Nobody can resist the sexy Osaka man.” Ryo smirked signalling his body.
“I’m not giving it to you.”
“Why the hell no? Fuck you, Pi!”
“Ryo. I’m your boss” Pi warned him.
“Ok. Fuck you, boss!” he crossed his arms on his chest.
“Until you have Shige’s ‘yes’ I’m not giving it to you. So if you want it, stop being an ass and ask him out. My head hurts because of all your whining”
“You’re an asshole.” Ryo murmured, his face a bit red of embarrassment.
“OUT!!”
“Ok, ok. Chill out, man” Ryo lifted himself and went to the elevators.

“Domoto-san, welcome again, how was your trip? Kitayama, take his luggage, please.” Shige said when Domoto Koichi entered the Hotel’s lobby.
“Ah, Kato-kun. Hello. It would’ve been better if that guy stopped customizing clothes in the middle of the plane.”
“Oh, I see Tsuyoshi-san came with you this time. Hello Tsuyoshi-san, welcome.” Shige said allowing the other man that was wearing a fedora and a cowboy-ish hat, even when it was summer. The other man just nodded.
“Yeah. It’s not an inconvenience, right Kato-san?”
“Of course not, Koichi-san. Your room is ready so Takaki-kun will give you the key and Kitayama will bring your luggage later. Meanwhile I’ll tell Yamashita-san you’re here so you can talk later in the bar, okay?”
“Okay, Thank you, Kato-kun.”
“You’re welcome. You remember you have the mini-bar in the room for free right?”
“If I didn’t, he would have reminded me, don’t worry.”
Shige smiled, and with that, the Domoto “brothers” (he didn’t know why they were called like that when it was obvious they were NOT brothers at all) took the elevator to their room.
It was afternoon already. The receptionists were working in a relaxed way. As he had predicted this morning, the day was being good and nothing out of control happened.
He had been eating with Massu because Kei-chan and Yamapi went out for lunch and Ryo… well, he didn’t know where the other had been at lunch time but he was glad they didn’t meet, Shige still remembered their conversation this morning and he knew Ryo wouldn’t let it go easily. So he just needed to wait for Tegoshi to arrive, show him around and he could leave for the day. He went back to the back office to get on with his work.
After around an hour and some of Ryo’s remarks about his fashion style, Shige heard the automatic door open and saw Tegoshi coming in.
“Tegoshi.” He went to receive him.
“Shige! Hi!!” The younger boy threw himself at him and hugged him tightly.
“It’s been a while. How have you been? Excited for your new life?”
“Oh I can’t believe it, Shige. I’m going to live with Taka! This has been my dream since high school. And now it’s real!! I can’t wait to get home.” he said giggling. Shige laughed at his silliness.
“Ok, then I’ll show you around and then we can leave, ne? Totsu should be here to take over the night shift in a few minutes. Let’s go. We’ll call the others later.”
They went to look around the hotel for a bit, Shige explaining Tegoshi where everything is, how they do some things, and all that they teach you the first day of work. When they arrived to the Bar after all that, Ryo, Koyama and Massu were already there, and Yamapi was in another table talking with Koichi and Tsuyoshi-san.
“Ryo-tan, Kei-chan! Hi!!” he smiled at them and sat down beside his boyfriend and pecking him on the check. They were the only ones in the bar at that hour so it didn’t matter.
They started drinking and after a while Yamapi sat with them and joined the conversation.
When it was almost closing time, Yamapi put his drink high in the middle of them.
“For NEWS hotel, the one which reunited us. To be successful and enjoy our lives to the full. Cheers!!”
“CHEERS!!”
