You know, I had wondered. :D

Your baby room looks just lovely. The bedding on the carrier is very nice, and I like the crib draperies, too. It's cute w/o being twee.

Twee? Wuzzat? O.o

I also like that drapery thingie. I like the pattern of the whole set, actually. It's so very subtle that I wasn't sure I could get it on photo, but I guess the flash set it off. :) In natural light you can hardly see it.

I'll probably be in here posting "MY WATER BROKE!" if, you know, my water breaks XD

twee: Overly precious or nice. Affectedly dainty or refined.

You should totally twitter the delivery! :-P

I don't have twitter. But I'm bringing my laptop to the hospital and my phone can function as a modem... So I could sit there and make hourly posts... "I'M 5CM DILATED NOW" XD

I agree with you about the taxes. I wish the US had more socialist Ideals and maybe Obama will be able to sway some of congress with his "spread the wealth" tax plan. I mean I understand from both ends. But the way I look at is "Don't you want a better future for your children to live in?" Maybe I am a socialist at heart. I don't mind sharing what I make to help others. Especially if it helps society.

Maybe, too, I have no idea what the eff i'm talking about. LOL. idk.

Anyway I love your baby stuff. It's beautiful. Gods. Are you excited yet?

I think that Maz was right when he said that the American mentality (very generalized, I know) is shaped around a whole different set of ideals and hence it's hard for a lot of people to understand that tax isn't just money out the window - you actually get something back! But honestly, it often really is cheaper to pay a little more tax than to invest in all kinds of private solutions... and, you know, wanting better lives for your children doesn't even spell out SUPER SOCIALIST to me. Of course, I do admit to considering much socialism common sense and hence not really being able to understand certain mentalities. Because, well, I guess I'm a team player in this one aspect? *shrugs*

Anyhoo, baby stuff: Thank you ^_^ Some of the time, I guess? But I'm actually mostly really, really calm. XD I might glance at the clock if I get a twinge or something, but for now I'm still pretty sure that Kupo feels comfortable where he is. ;)

SUPER SOCIALISTMAN! mazvn November 7 2008, 12:19:06 UTC
Whats that? I's it Straberryman? Is it Tomatoman? Is it Communistman? NO! It's Super Socialistman!

There are several arguments against "spreading the wealth". Or "those who earn more should pay more".

One of the most common and simplist one is "but it's unfair. I worked hard to earn what I do why do I need to pay more?".
And while I get that to an extend, deep down I just find it an incredible childish argument.

---

There is a more cold financial argument and I could pick that apart as well. But that would become a wall of text I fear.

I'll just conclude that Denmark has one of the strongest economies in the world _because_ we have a high tax, (it provides safety). And not despite of it.

---

So there, if anyone thought Kitty where a bit of a socialist, you should argue with me instead :)

I think that baby stuff is absolutely adorable. Kupo is going to be a VERY happy and comfortable baby. Aren't you scared you could go into labor...at...any...second? And not have anything ready?

Nah, because we do have stuff ready and he's not just going to pop out. A first timer will usually have 12-24 hours of contractions preceding the actual birth. For much of that you can still do stuff. ;)

I would still be scared...not everyone is the same though...what if the labor speeds by? So many what ifs...so many...(I think I'm more worried about this than you).

Well, it's not really going to just take you by surprise because there are stages of different kinds of contractions and you need to be pretty dilated to even be able to give birth. ;)

There's no use fretting until something actually goes wrong. ;)

Heeh. I'm also a poor student and I find it rather silly that they give me a grant and then tax that same grant. O.o But, you know, meh. Not saying that it's perfect and I don't know how you're taxed in Britain, just saying that I'd rather pay my due than live without certain things.

This is my problem with the taxes: My dad makes around 250,000 a year in benefits, not in cash. 30% (around 90,000) goes to taxes. If Obama raises taxes on those who make 250 or more a year, my Dad is screwed. He has three kids in college, and college is expensive as hell. He had to take out loans for all of us to pay for tuition. Now, we are *not* rich. We aren't poor, but we are not rich. Yet we are considered 'upper middle class'. We don't even have dental insurance. And you know, my Dad works his *ass* off. He's got diabetes, and he has a very stressful job, and is hardly home, and if it comes to the point where he's getting taxed more than he already is, to pay for people's health care- people who he has *no* responsibility for whatsoever, that bothers me. It feels like stealing.

That's my only problem with the taxes. Though, Obama can't do anything right now, because the economy is not stable enough for his tax plan.

Cutest baby room ever, btw =)

The thing is that the way the whole tax thing should work (and often will work, although not immediately) is that, yes, you pay more, but then you don't need to pay for e.g. a separate medical insurance, because you get that benefit already. Or suddenly the government funds (or partially funds) kids going to college, so you save money there etc ( ... )

The problem here is that Americans think Obama is going to pay their gas and rent. Not all of them of course, but many really don't understand what his plan is. In order for the system to work everyone would have to pay in, just as you said. But people here think (because it's been suggested and not well explained by Obama and his ppl) that only people earning 250 + will get the tax hikes.

I don't know why, but it just doesn't feel right having the government pay for this kind of stuff. It feels like they have too much power, and that is something our Forefathers were very nervous about when they made our Constitution.

=) and your welcome lol

$250,000. That's $13,300 a month (after tax). How expensive is college exactly? O.O ( ... )
