Author:
prettyorianna

Rating: NC-17.
Genre: crime drama au
Beta by: my cat Gemma.  and maeda_marika
Disclaimer: I don't own KAT-TUN, any of its members, any other JE people.  I write this for fun and for other fans of these fine folks.  But don't steal my plots, mmkay?  I put a great deal of time into them except for when I'm randomly spastically spitting words onto a page.  But I value those too...

Summary:  Two criminals with vastly different styles meet by chance one day.  They immediately clash but is that all they'll ever be?  How much is fate and how much choice?  And how will their meeting change the world around them?

Author's Note: Well, I wanted this to go further but I don't want to make you guys wait any longer because I am trying so hard to get ready for my trip and get the house clean and spend time with the hubby before I go.  So please be content for a little while longer with this peace offering of a short chapter.  I probably won't get another done before visiting my folks and probably especially nothing while I'm there for two weeks.  I'm meeting my brother's family for this first time and I imagine we'll all stay pretty busy.

BANNER BY DESHISORABA!! THE MOST AWESOME BANNER EVER AND I WILL FIGHT ANYONE WHO DISAGREES!

Warning: This gets graphic often occasionally, containing at the very least foul language, character death, nefarious crimes, rape, etc etc.

Chapter 109 ~Strangeness and Miracles~

At what point in the day had he fallen into this backwards reality?  Was there a specific step - out of all of the steps he’d taken since returning from the successful out-of-town robbery - where he had one foot in the true reality and the other in the mysterious new universe unfolding before him?  How was a man supposed to know what’s true and what’s not in such a bizarre world?

At least he wasn’t alone on this scary path.  Kazuya seemed just as surprised as he was to find Maru had taken over the whole place with his ridiculous ghost nonsense.  Now, it’s not so much that Jin didn’t believe ghosts were possible because (though he’d deny any fear) everyone knew they existed.  But here at the church?  No way.  And even if there was a real ghost it wasn’t his fault, which is how practically everyone now saw it.  He didn’t let shit out of the attic because there was nothing up there!  Not even so much as an icy chill.

And that wasn’t the only thing going wrong.  Koki told him he’d been unable to find Girl to introduce her to the other children.  He didn’t think she was there anymore.  In his opinion, she probably heard the ghost talk and ran away because she didn’t know anyone there to turn to for reassurance.

Damn.  Jin really wanted to help her.  It was the first chance he had to show Kizuna he shared their common goal and wasn’t just some thief who didn’t care about helping those who need it.  And not just that.  It hurt his heart to think of her out in the city on her own with no jacket or shoes or money or food or love or any of the things a little girl should have.

Why did people even have children if they didn’t care enough to keep their child from such a fate?  God, it just pissed him off to no end!  If he ever found Girl’s parents, he was going to give them a beating they’d never forget.  See how they like it…

Kazuya tried to calm him down but wasn’t having much success.  The camera brat Fujigaya wasn’t helping matters either.  Even though he had become much less… well, invasive… with his fanboy photo  thing, the ghost brought his surprise photography back in full-force.  It wasn’t aimed directly at them this time but he’d be damned if that kid didn’t have an uncanny knack for interrupting his private time with Kazuya.  Ghost-hunting or not, it was just as annoying as ever.

At least the brat stopped when he finally got the ghost photo he was looking for first thing the next morning, a fact everyone now knew because the kid ran practically screaming through the hall saying he had real proof.  Nobody had seen him since with theories split down the middle between whether he was at the store getting the picture developed or if the ghost ate him.

Right.  Like ghosts could eat.

You know what?  He didn’t care.  He was just happy the kid stopped before he got Jin in trouble with Kazuya again.  Mendokusai…

Though if someone was going to disappear from the church, Jin’s vote was firmly on Yamashita.  He would never, never forgive that man.  He didn’t care that it was Yamashita’s map that allowed them to rescue Tatsuya.  It wasn’t enough to make up for having sex with Tatsuya while he was scared and out of his mind on some drug cocktail at the rough trade house.

And the way Tatsuya flinched instinctively whenever Yamashita’s voice surprised him from behind wasn’t helping matters.  But he couldn’t go to Kazuya again on the matter because Tatsuya begged him to drop the issue.

At least some things had gone well recently.  The out-of-town job was a complete success, better than the four of them had ever hoped.  They’d robbed the armored car AND the jewelry store and came home with several hundred thousand dollars split between the four of them.  It would have been more if they’d waited and hit the armored truck at the end of the day but they didn’t know the schedule of the truck, only that it stopped at the jewelry store at specific times.  It was hard to do advance reconnaissance on a moving target with a different schedule every day of the week in an unfamiliar distant town, even if it’s a smaller town.

According to Massu, it had been a very long time since anyone in Kizuna got a take that large.  And it occurred to Jin that in an effort to help Kazuya calm down the ghost-fear craze, he’d completely forgotten to bring it up.  The pouch with his share of the money was sitting right next to the Snoopy doll in the cabinet (Jin had his own key to it now).  Kazuya had to know they succeeded, or at least didn’t fail in a “get arrested” sort of way, but he knew none of the details.

So now that Jin was finally getting around to the subject as he and Kazuya retired for the night, maybe he should bring it up?  “Ne, Kazu-love?” he whispered to the man whose body was half-draped over Jin’s own.  “About yesterday…”

“Hmm?” There was a pause.  “Oh.  Yesterday!  Right.  How’d the job go?  Come to think on it, what was the job anyway?”

“Jewelry store and an armored car.”

An impressed whistle.  “The four of you took on an armored car?  Amazing!  How… well, no, I mean, I know you all and I know what you can do so I know… but, what I mean is, how did pull it off?  Oh, that’s not coming out well at all…”

But Jin wasn’t offended.  Slyly he replied, “With a water buffalo.”

“Mou, why are you teasing me?” Kazuya sighed, but there was no anger in his voice.

“Because you’re beautiful even when you pout?” which was hopefully the right response to earn him a kiss.

It was.

But that kiss was enough to put all thoughts of money out of mind once again as he moaned into it, tangling one hand messily into Kazuya’s hair.  And when the kiss finally ended, Jin whispered against Kazuya’s lips, “I missed you so much.  I’m sorry I was so tired last night and just fell right asleep when we got to bed.  Let me make it up to you…”

“Mm… how?” Kazuya chuckled, climbing up to straddle Jin.  “How will you make it up to me when I’ve already got you right where I want you?”

With every bit of his senses focused on the miracle he’d stumbled upon in meeting Kazuya, Jin murmured, “I’ll show you exactly how…”

Then he rolled the two of them over and did just that.  Everything else was somehow unimportant in moments like that.

Chapter 110 ~The Detective~ *new - May 18*

A/N: Well, there you go.  Not a lot HAPPENS, I know, but all the stuff that does is pretty darn important.

And you'll have to imagine Kame's relief after he makes love with Jin and then Jin tells him about the $450,000 he and the Trio earned (most of it is going to the Kizuna fund because all four of them will give a large chunk of their quarter to it).  The next present!chapter will be Kame's perspective and probably will start with him musing over how much of a relief that money is and then will move on to many other things I've hinted at here in this chapter, both the good stuff and the bad.  More Girl, more Maru, more Akame, more Taipi, more Tesshi, more Trio, more lots of stuff.

But first back to the past.  You'll find out who exactly is Jiro's boy and how Kame, Shuta, and Yurina will save him.  Or, well, some more stuff in that direction, anyway.  Not sure how much of it but that's the direction we're going with it.
