mellow_mel requested a gif of the hair flip and i thought it'd be a good idea for a lil tut =P

i'm not too fond of the process so i almost never make gifs, but i thought someone might find it helpful

there are like 3 or 4 ways to gif and i tried them all XD but ultimately found the easiest is probably through KMplayer (as suggested by captainraydor on

uhm... faster than it should? it's doing ok for me took 15 frames out of 25fps with a 0,2 sec delay (if i remember correctly)... how is it for everyone else?

Is KM Player what you're using to capture the video? I use GIMP to make GIFs (I know how on there) I just don't have the capacity to get the footage I want to use. Or do you just have the torrents?

oh hey sorry it was girls night out =P

uhm, i realized my version of kmplayer is in italian XD LOL sorry for that
anyway, by clicking on the gear on the bottom left corner and then on the 3 lines menu you can screencap: kmplayer creates screencaps from the footage you are watching and you can set it to snap every n frames (if you open the 'more' panel on the right), i choose 15 frames in a second because it was a very short clip, so it's sorta +half the frames every sec (it depends on the footage, in my case it's a 25fps, if it's a cinema movie it might be 24fps, in north america it might be 30fps)
you can also set the pixels heigh and widht you want your screencaps to be taken and for tumblr it has to be less than 500px so i go for that and then shrink it further if i feel like

if the question is 'where do i get the episodes' then the answer is: online. i didn't screenrecorded them while watching, i mostly rip my dvds to get footage of my fav shows on my computer but major crimes dvds will be out next week only in the US =(

Neat. Where did you download the KMPlayer from? I don't want to search for it and end up grabbing the wrong thing.

most players have screencap options, i used BSplayer and it was super easy as i just pressed P or SHIFT+P to screencap XD but if you wanna take frames at a constant pace this one's easier and the gif won't lag
