Are you trying to bring food to Ireland/ England/ Italy? Or bring it back home?
As for the 45 minute walk-- if it's in an English speaking country, people should be able to help you get un-lost. So it wouldn't be any worse than, say, the same walk in Seattle. ALso, complexity of the route seems like a bigger deal than distance.
Good luck with the shlepping. Jif peanutbutter has a product called Jif to go which are one serving size things of peanut butter. I highly reccomend them for travel. Also, cliff bars for the same purpose. High in protein and kosher. If you can supplement with some raw fruits and veggies that you pick up there (assuming you both eat them), then you should be in relatively good shape. Just think... all the romantic picnics! :)
