I'm probably going to be bitching a LOT.  I'll try to write about what's I LIKE in comics next time.  But right now RHatO is driving my BONKERS!

1) The reason I like the Bats is that they DON'T do a lot of supernatural stuff.  It's more "real" as far as such things go in comics.  But here we are deal with eh All-Caste, the Untitled and Magical ( Read more... )

See, I don't have as much of a problem with Jason--I like him a lot better less angry, and having him just... "not go there" with the Batfamily is working for me. I'm a little tired of DC rehashing the same stuff over and over, so I'm happy to see him doing something else right now.

My big problem is Starfire, and I know we've discussed this into the ground. She hasn't seemed anything like the character I remember from the pre-boot period, and in the last issue I read, it looked like they were maybe possibly going to let her be more like herself, but I had already given the title 4 months of my money, and I'm not going to keep pumping money into titles I'm not enjoying. The bare hint of her maybe turning into herself again wasn't enough to keep me.

I don't ha ea problem with Jason being on an even keel so much as how out of the blue it feels. I want to see HOW we get there! I WANT that level of character development. Not just PLOP, you are here.

I honestly don't know much of anything about Starfire other then the old TT cartoon. So I've been reserving judgement on her. I am liking this Starfire, but it IS slow going getting to know her and where her head is at. But that's about teh only part I'm liking in the book at this point.

I do like Roy but he's suffering from being in a team boo ie, not enough screen time/development.

And yes this Jason COULD have been Robin, but it's such a complete departure form who he was in Under the Hood or even Lost days, that I just can't go for it. I want to know WHY he's "better" and I don't. It leaves me feeling cheated.

R'as and Ivy aren't the mainstay of the Batverse. They show up from time to time, give it some colour, but then we're back to business as usual.
