I was re-reading ADitF the other day and it really bugged me. Everything being from Bruce's POV and so very contrived...I kept thinking, Jason isn't like that!

So when canon fails, it's fanfic to the rescue!

I'm working on part two. And for those going, "But Dick is in space at this point!" don't worry, I explain that one too :)

Sorry to comment on your post and not on your fic but where was Bruce an ass in 426?

Nono, that's fine :) I'm both following canon AND changing it.

The very beginning, where he's yelling at Jason to wait even as he's going into the warehouse. I played on the fact that the beginning of the comic leaves a lot wide open. And added in my own interpretation to try and make sense of what is otherwise rather out of character.

I should also mention that since this is from Jason's POV, yes, much of Bruce's behaviour is viewed as assholish (such as benching him) ~_^

Bruce was waiting for Gordon and was quite rightfully surprised at Jason running off. It's not as if Bruce yelling alerted the criminals any -- they all saw Jason body surfing at them. ;-)

And, yes, Jason is a self-absorbed teenager so of course he's going to think Bruce is an asshole but that doesn't mean Bruce is.

This is where you need to read the fic, since I look at the whole "waiting for Gordon" bit since it was one of the many things that was OOC for Jason in ADitF.
