To start out, I’d very much like to ask you the following questions:
Question #1: How do you feel when you realize someone perceives, considers or treats you as if you were inferior to him (her)?
Question #2: How do you feel when you realize this person doesn’t even have the slightest shadow of a doubt regarding his self-ascribed superiority

I think we've talked about men's issues before, haven't we?

I can't get into WhiskeyGirl's post, it's flocked.
But speaking of synchronicity, you and I were posting here at the same time.

I try to stay away from anti_feminism, because there are some people there with whom I should have nothing to do, because prolonged contact with them would result in my throwing Alice and Vera in the trunk and driving off to hunt them down in the trailer parks, parents' basements, lunatic asylums and culverts where they live.
Pre-emptively banning whiskeygirl8 is the kind of behaviour that makes peaceable, calm, gentle, placid, nonviolent me want to start bar fights.

AAAGGGH. I'd never seen stupid_free, I'd never seen hollowpointslug (my GAWD you're SO RIGHT about the "has his own tag" thing as a measure of obnoxious stupidity) and I am never going to see any of that again if I can help it.
I'm going to go write you a nice post about beer goddesses, I am. And make some icons for langolier.

I hope you're writing this for a wider audience than your LJ.
Your regular conditioned female reaction? Say nothing, look at the ground or elsewhere, walk past quickly, as far away from the asshole as possible, maybe even sketch a timid smile in the process, as per female modesty regulations. Meanwhile, the asshole will gloat with satisfaction at her, basking in his dominance shit. My reaction? Keep my regular pace on, walk past him without changing my trajectory (that is, without making a wide berth), keep my gaze on him without a hint of a smile, without mumbling or saying anything. In all seriousness, I was so pissed that I was daring him to try just so I could smash his teeth with my elbow. Yes, that pissed.
My father used to hoot and holler at young women in crosswalks with his own wife and children in the car. They were frightened, upset, disgusted. I always wondered, even back when I was about seven years old, why didn't these women just stop, lean over, catch his eye, spit on the car, and then look him in the face ( ... )

Re not dropping your eyes: Even the men who supposedly don't know what you're talking about will respond negatively to you if you fail to drop your eyes when met on the street. Walk down the street with your friend a few feet behind you and tell him to watch the faces of oncoming men, and how those faces change when you don't drop your eyes. I can't tell you how many times I have tried to get male friends to acknowledge this, and they refuse to do it because they cannot imagine a world like that. In particular, they don't like to be told that they benefit from the sexism, and sexual terrorism, of other men. Susan Brownmiller's contention that all men benefit because some men rape sends most men right into hysterics. (Yes, I know the etymology; saying it anyway ( ... )
