Aww, that's lovely :)))

Poor Mycroft.

(Thank you for filling my prompt, and I have no problem with M/L :))

Thank you! I'm so happy you don't mind Mycroft/Lestrade. I just hate when I'm forced to write Mycroft and then have to have Lestrade there. ;)

I think it's a sweet pairing :)

My head!canon is that Mycroft is gay and as long as he's not shagging John I'm quite happy to see him with someone, rather than lonely...which is what the powers that be seem to be going for (although I'm quietly hoping that they'll do a version of 'The Greek Interpreter' and imply that he's seeing Mr Melas).

I've never thought about that from 'The Greek Interpreter.' I just re-read that one and was ridiculously excited that Mycroft and Lestrade are shown to show up at Baker Street together. My shipper heart skipped a beat!

Very nice. I can feel the progression of Mycroft's sadness and weariness, and the ending offers a nice bit of comfort.

This is beautiful and heartbreaking. You do a wonderful job of presenting the reality of dementia. I have an aunt who's in a similar state, so I found myself totally agreeing with what Lestrade said to Mycroft. Such a condition is harder in a lot of ways than simply losing a loved one outright because any visit does serve as a reminder of what you're missing. As Mycroft is obviously very close to his mother, I can understand why the situation is so unbearable. Although it's painful, I love this part of the story:

“Your mother must be very proud of you.” Violet’s voice brought him back to the present ( ... )

I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt, but I'm glad that I've portrayed it correctly. I haven't had anyone incredibly close to me suffer from it, but I've had family-friends, or close friend's family members.

Lately I've been a sucker for hurt/comfort or just angst. I can't seem to write anything happy. Oh well.

Thanks for commenting!

That was beautiful, I work with people who deals with dementia sufferers, and I think Greg has got it spot on. Not to forget the terrible guilt most feel when they sometimes wish that the demented relative had died instead of forgetting everything.

I'm glad he's got Greg to help him through.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story!

Thank you so much for commenting and liking it, even though it's a bit sad.

I'm happy, even though that sounds totally horrible, that I've correctly covered what truly happens with those suffering from Dementia, as well as those 'left behind.' I've only been the comfort/listening piece to those who have family members going through it, so I'm glad I got it right.

And my Mycroft will always have Greg. I think I've written two stories where he doesn't. You just can't have one without the other, in my mind at least!
