Well, I liked it. I don't get it, but I liked it. Is the silent phalanx a metaphor?

I think I agree. I really, really like the writing, but I get a little lost toward the end.

I get more lost in the middle, but I can see how you'd get lost in the end.

The style in which you wrote this was fascinating. Distant, detached, yet powerful nonetheless. Nice work!

Thank you for your edit!

Your questions helped a lot to put the piece in perspective -- I do have some answers for them, but not time to delve into them yet.

I've been reading/ studying Samuel Beckett lately, and thus haven't felt obligated to explain what I write ;)

Sorry this is so late in coming. I've had a tres busy week.

I'll start off by saying I love your writing style. You have the capability of drawing the reader into the world you have created. You also have drawn very vibrant images of each woman as to looks, personality, and situation. It's so well done, that I almost don't mind that I, too, don't "get it." I sort of understand it on an intuitive level, maybe. What I'm trying to say is that your writing evokes an emotional response, which is the hallmark of good writing, at least for me.

That being said, I think this piece is more of an introduction than a "stand alone" piece of writing. As the previous editor indicated, it leaves the reader grasping for answers. It's TOO mysterious. But still beautiful. You do have a gift.
