I try so hard not to judge (at least so publicly) these days.

But really.

I was playing Cards Against Humanity with some 30 year old-ish friends of mine (and they are friends, I do still like them a lot).

And guys.

They BOTH didn't know what "Auschwitz" was. AUSCHWITZ.

I've been OKAY I suppose... all things considered? Honestly the only things making me struggle right now are money and art. But I am still trying to keep up on it 8/

How about you?

Oh man, if our own generation is lacking this basic information about one of the most gruesome playes in one of the most gruesome times in this very century, then who knows what might come in generations after us.

How can you NOT know about Auschwitz???

I DUNNO. Maybe they were raised in a really sheltered part of the country where no one like... talked about history or something? I'm not sure.

But I already know that humans are quick to forget all the wrong things and hold on to all the things they should be letting go. It's bizarre.

They must have gone to a VERY shitty school. It's unlikely they learned all about the Holocaust and it just slipped their minds. I mean, but possible? I'm shocked at the things my roommate forgets.

yeah I guess it's possible they just never had that opportunity to study the subject deeply and have that name ingrained in their mind? There are some things I, admittedly, don't know but most of it is stuff that you have to watch the news now for.

Maybe there are just some people out there that never bothered to get into world history, even on the most obvious levels.

You don't have to know every year or date or how many people were there etc... but not even knowing what it was at all?

8I I wonder what their school was like?
