The party at Hyukjae’s house was a success. Everyone had so much fun hanging out together. In fact it was too much of a success that everyone ended up drinking more than they had intended to.

Jooyeon sat up on the bed and almost immediately clutched her head. It was pounding heavily. Groaning, she moved to sit on the edge of the bed, planting her feet on the floor.

“Where am I?” she asked as she looked around and realized that she wasn’t in Taeyeon’s room.

There was a knock on the door. Without waiting for a response, it opened and Hyukjae walked in.

“Hyukjae oppa?” Jooyeon called, surprised.

“How are you feeling?” Hyukjae asked, crouching down in front of her. He gently touched her cheek.

“My head hurts a lot,” she told him. “Am I still at your house?” she asked, looking around again.

“Yeah, you and everyone else stayed over,” he shared. “Everyone had too much fun last night.”

“You don’t seem hung over,” she pointed out.

“Well I needed to look out for everyone else,” he responded with a gummy grin. He stood up. “There are some clothes in the closet. You can come down when you’re ready. Breakfast is already being served in the dining room.”

“Is anyone else up already?” she asked, standing up slowly to go to the closet.

“Donghae, Siwon and Kyuhyun went jogging,” he said. “Taeyeon is helping prepare breakfast. Hankyung, Shindong, Kangin and Heechul are still in bed.”

“How could they go jogging?” she asked, shocked.

“They’re athletes,” he reminded her. “They didn’t drink that much to make themselves drunk to the point of passing out.” Her cheeks turned pink. Was he saying that she drank too much? He chuckled at her reaction. “You just have low tolerance for alcohol. See you downstairs.” He left the room, closing the door behind him.

After taking a bath, brushing her teeth and getting dressed, Jooyeon finally went downstairs and looked for the dining room. On her way down, Donghae, Kyuhyun and Siwon got back from their jog.

“Hey, good morning!” Jooyeon greeted them. The three boys greeted her back.

“How are you feeling?” Donghae asked her.

“Fine, I think,” she answered. “I have a headache, though.”

“It’s really no wonder why,” Kyuhyun said with a smirk.

“You’ll feel better after some breakfast,” Siwon said, smiling a little at Kyuhyun’s comment. Even Donghae was smiling.

She rolled her eyes at them, her face feeling hot. Honestly, she really couldn’t remember what had happened. It really had been a while since she let her guard down and partied that way. She hoped she didn’t do anything stupid.

“Hey!” Taeyeon greeted them when they entered the dining room.

There was a lot of food on the table, from bacon to sausages to eggs. The three boys sat down at once and began eating like there was no tomorrow.

“Where are the others?” Jooyeon asked.

“I already woke the others up. Hyukjae is in the kitchen,” Taeyeon told her. “You alright?”

“Yeah,” Jooyeon said, blushing again. “Listen, can we talk for a bit?”

“Sure,” Taeyeon said. They stepped out onto the garden to which the dining room was also connected to. “This is about last night, isn’t it?”

“Erm, kind of,” Jooyeon said, blushing even harder. “I seem to have been too drunk to remember anything that happened.”

“Don’t worry,” Taeyeon assured her. “You didn’t do anything stupid or anything embarrassing.”

“Really?” Jooyeon asked hopefully.

“Yes, the boys took turns taking care of you,” Taeyeon shared. “Mostly it was Donghae and Hyukjae, though. They made sure you were okay, making you drink lots of water and shooing away boys who were eyeing you.” She chuckled.

“Alcohol has never been my friend,” Jooyeon said, breathing a sigh of relief.

When they went back inside, all the boys were already eating. Taeyeon sat down in between Siwon and Hyukjae, while Jooyeon sat across from them, in between Donghae and Heechul. Donghae opened her plate and put rice, an egg, some bacon and sausages, an act that didn’t escape everyone.

“Thanks, oppa,” Jooyeon said, looking at him gratefully.

“How are you feeling?” Heechul asked her as soon as she sat down.

“Fine,” Jooyeon mumbled.

“You were pretty drunk last night,” Kangin commented, chuckling.

“So were you,” Jooyeon shot back.

“But I still remember everything that happened,” Kangin retorted, grinning. “Do you?”

“Nothing happened,” Jooyeon said, glancing at Taeyeon, who giggled.

Kangin, Hankyung, Shindong, Siwon and Heechul all burst into loud laughter. Jooyeon felt herself blushing again. Kyuhyun himself was smirking. Hyukjae had a gummy smile on his face, while Donghae was smiling a little.

“Jooyeon, my dear, something always happens when one gets drunk,” Heechul said knowingly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

“But Taeyeon said…” Jooyeon trailed away.

“It’s really nothing,” Taeyeon said, chuckling. “I promise. You didn’t dance like crazy or kiss someone or anything like that.”

“But,” Shindong announced, “you did rank how good-looking we are.”

Jooyeon choked on the juice she was drinking. Donghae immediately turned to her and gently patted her back, giving her tissue paper.

“What?” Jooyeon asked weakly.

“It was very entertaining,” Hankyung said, grinning widely.

When Jooyeon didn’t say anything, Kangin inquired with a big smile on his face, “Aren’t you going to ask us how it went?”

“You’re going to tell me anyway,” Jooyeon said, defeated.

“Let’s see,” Kangin said. “How did it start?”

“Siwon was checking up on you,” Taeyeon started, looking at Jooyeon with a smile.

“I’m fine,” Jooyeon drunkenly answered with a giggle.

Siwon and Taeyeon looked at Hyukjae, who was laughing.

“She’s really drunk, isn’t she?” Taeyeon remarked in amusement.

“She’s been giggling at everything the entire time,” Hyukjae informed them.

“Are you okay?” Jooyeon suddenly asked Siwon.

“I’m fine,” Siwon told her.

“I know you’re fine,” Jooyeon grumbled. “No need to boast about it. I mean Taeyeon wouldn’t be with you if you weren’t fine.” She giggled again.

Hyukjae looked at Jooyeon then at Siwon and Taeyeon, all surprised at what she said. Then they all burst into laughter.

“What about me?” Hyukjae then proceeded to ask, testing if she was going to say something about him.

Jooyeon turned to look at him, her head swaying. “Lee Hyukjae. You’re the cutest guy I’ve met. It’s because you’re my anchovy, you know. You’re like the cutest anchovy,” she declared, lifting her arms up. Hyukjae smiled happily.

“Hyung, you should listen to this,” Siwon told Heechul, who was passing by with Shindong.

“What’s going on here?” Heechul asked impatiently.

“Heechul oppa!” Jooyeon gushed happily. She stood up and wobbled. Heechul reached out to support her.

“Is she drunk?” Shindong asked.

“Very,” Hyukjae answered emphatically.

“What did she drink?” Heechul asked as Jooyeon giggled.

“A beer,” Taeyeon supplied.

“A couple of shots of Vodka,” Siwon added.

“More like two,” Hyukjae corrected.

“And she’s wasted?” Shindong asked in disbelief.

“She’s Jooyeon,” Taeyeon pointed out. “She has low tolerance for alcohol.”

“Can we stop talking about this?” Jooyeon interrupted Taeyeon. “I really don’t think it’s interesting.”

“That’s because we haven’t gone to the interesting parts yet,” Heechul told her, taking over the story.

“Jooyeon-ah,” Heechul began, smirking. “Can I have my hug now?”

Jooyeon pouted. “Oppa always wants a hug from me.” She then giggled. “But oppa looks very good so I will hug you.” Surprising everyone, Jooyeon leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck. She giggled.

Heechul chuckled as he hugged her back. “This little girl really is so adorable,” he said, having her sit back down. “Hyukjae, you better make sure that she hugs no one else.”

“Yes, hyung,” Hyukjae said, smiling.

Jooyeon then saw Shindong. She grinned at him. “Shindong oppa, the cuddly teddy bear!”

“Er, hello,” Shindong said uncertainly. Everyone laughed.

“You know I really didn’t like it when oppa hugged me the first time we met,” Jooyeon carelessly shared, hiccupping. “But since oppa was so cute and so funny, I decided that it was okay.”

“She’s really talkative when she’s drunk, isn’t she?” Siwon asked Taeyeon.

“Obviously,” Taeyeon said with a chuckle.

“We have to get Donghae over here,” Heechul said, looking around. “Ya! Donghae! Kyuhyun!”

Donghae and Kyuhyun, along with Kangin and Hankyung, who overheard, walked over to see what was going on. As soon as Donghae saw Jooyeon, he crouched down in front of her.

“Jooyeon, are you alright?” Donghae asked.

“She’s drunk,” Hyukjae told him. Kangin laughed out loud.

“More like wasted,” Kyuhyun observed. “What happened?”

“We were just drinking beer and taking Vodka shots,” Taeyeon recounted. “She started passing out after half a beer and one shot.”

“Just that?” Kangin asked, astonished. “Man.” He shook his head.

“This is where it gets really exciting!” Kangin stated happily.

Jooyeon groaned, burying her face in her hands, while Donghae blushed.

“Can you please stop torturing me?” Jooyeon said. Suddenly she had an idea and stood up.

“Oh no, you don’t,” Heechul said, grabbing her arm and making her sit back down. “You’re going to hear the rest of the story.”

“Donghae oppa! My fishy!” Jooyeon said when she finally saw him. She put her hands on his shoulders and giggled.

“Jooyeon, are you dizzy?” Donghae asked in concern. Her cheeks were tinted red. She looked really flushed.

“Noooo,” Jooyeon sang out ecstatically.

“Jooyeon,” Heechul suddenly said. “Do you think Donghae’s cute?”

“Hyung, what are you-?” Donghae began, looking up at him.

“Donghae oppa isn’t cute,” Jooyeon answered, shaking her head. She stopped talking for a moment, as she felt dizzier after shaking her head. Donghae looked at her, mouth open in surprise. All the boys chuckled at this. “Donghae oppa isn’t cute,” she repeated when she recovered. She looked at Donghae and smiled fondly. “Donghae oppa is handsome. Like a prince.”

Everyone was laughing like hyenas. Kangin was pounding the table, his head buried in his arm. Hyukjae was grinning like a monkey. Shindong, Siwon and Hankyung couldn’t breathe. Heechul was clapping like crazy. Kyuhyun, the smirk-lover, was laughing, too! Even Donghae was chuckling. Jooyeon groaned and closed her eyes. She wished the floor would just gobble her up.

“Really? Like a prince?” Siwon repeated, surprised at the revelation. Everyone couldn’t believe what they heard either.

“Yes,” Jooyeon said with a sigh, still looking at Donghae, who was still crouched down in front of her.

“So would you say that he’s the cutest guy out of all of us? Would you say that he’s better-looking than, say, Kyuhyun?” Kangin interjected.

“Hyung, you’re going to confuse her,” Hyukjae said, worried that Jooyeon might feel even more dizziness. But Kangin shushed him.

“Kyuhyun oppa isn’t like Donghae oppa,” Jooyeon corrected him. The boys snickered at Kyuhyun. “Kyuhyun oppa is more like a dark knight.” She brightened up at the idea. “Yes, coz he’s always so mean and everything, but when I’m in trouble he’s always there for me.” She giggled. “I really like his eyes,” she added in a whisper as if sharing a secret.

Kyuhyun triumphantly snickered at the rest of the boys.

“Taeng, you told me I didn’t do anything stupid and embarrassing,” Jooyeon whined as the story ended. The boys were still laughing. How was she ever going to face them now, especially Kyuhyun and Donghae?

“It wasn’t stupid or embarrassing at all,” Taeyeon corrected. “It was funny.” She grinned.

“Ya Jooyeon,” Kangin called her. “What about me? You never said anything about me.”

“Me neither,” Hankyung added.

Jooyeon rolled her eyes and stood up. “I’ll just go upstairs,” she quietly said and hurriedly left the dining room.

Taeyeon smiled as she watched Jooyeon leave. She then turned to the boys, who were still howling. “Alright,” she said authoritatively. “That’s enough. Drink some medicine to cure the hangover. I’ll be right back.” She stood up and left.

“Okay,” the boys mumbled.

As Jooyeon sat down on the edge of her bed, she worriedly asked herself, “What am I going to do?”

She stared at her reflection in the mirror. She didn’t think she’d ever turned so red in her entire life. How was she ever going to show her face to them? She called Siwon fine; Hyukjae the cutest boy she’d ever met; She hugged Heechul; Shindong the teddy bear; Donghae handsome like a prince; And Kyuhyun the dark knight.

She’d really broken her promise. It was supposed to be a new beginning for her. There was to be no close relations with any sort of boy. But Taeyeon just had to have eight - eight! - really close guy friends, who were so easy to like, so easy to be friends with. She really couldn’t help but return their kindness. And now she’d gotten herself in trouble even more by drunkenly voicing out her affection.

There was a knock on the door. Taeyeon walked in.

“Hey,” Taeyeon quietly greeted her, smiling a little. “You okay?”

“Do I look like I’m okay?” Jooyeon asked, covering her face with her hands.

Taeyeon smiled and sat down beside her. “There’s no need to be embarrassed,” she said.

“What are you talking about?” Jooyeon said in muffled tones. “I don’t think I can ever look at them in the eye again.”

Taeyeon couldn’t help but laugh. “Joo, the boys were just having a bit of fun. You know how they are. They really like you, you know. They wouldn’t have so much fun and interest if it was with someone they didn’t care about.”

“So they embarrass everyone that they like and care about?” Jooyeon concluded with a soft groan.

“Pretty much,” Taeyeon summed up. “It’s really no big deal,” she added comfortingly. “The guys really love you even more now.”

“Yes, because I said they were cute,” Jooyeon groaned.

“Exactly,” Taeyeon agreed, chuckling.

“I’m never going to live this down,” Jooyeon stated.

“They really appreciated your honesty,” Taeyeon told her, trying not to laugh. “I really think this is a big step for you, Jooyeon.” She looked at her best friend.

“How do you mean?” Jooyeon asked.

“Remember when I told you that you couldn’t find better guys anywhere? Well you showed last night that you believe that. You showed how much you like and trust them,” Taeyeon explained. “I mean I know you don’t let your guard down with just anyone. You would never allow yourself to be carried away like that anywhere else.”

Jooyeon looked back at Taeyeon and realized that she was right.
